I just realized mine was sitting outside all day in its Battlecorps
shipping box. Good thing my porch is covered. The rain could have
made things... bad. Number 408.

I ordered one for a buddy, and it came in, #452, IIRC. I haven't gotten my
own copy yet though, so no clue what number it will be.

Mine came in today... #894. :)

Been glancing through it, can't wait to try it out. Anyone know if there
are any SR groups (or other gaming groups) in/near Raleigh, NC. The last
2 people in our (now defunct for about a year) gaming group have moved
out of the area. Would love to start playing again. :)

Fridays are starting to get boring again... maybe I need a life. ;P

I have #805. A good number, even if it is fairly high on the count.

I got mine at Gen Con (stood in line for six hours total).

Thanks to Robocop it is easy to remember: #209

Rob and a couple of the artists were nice enough to autograph it.
Much like Nigel's guitar in "This Is Spinal Tap" my SR4 LE "can't be
played -- never". So I'm still eagerly awaiting the arrival of my
"play copy" at the FLGS.

256 = 2^8, which makes it a very significant number in the computing world,
as it's the number of separate items of data that can be represented by a
single "byte".

D'oh! OK, now I really do feel dense. :) All right, I'm with ya now.
I went to the link that Jan Jaap posted the other day
(http://www.studio2publishing.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=21
9) and ordered one of the limited edition books from them, expecting
to get an e-mail back saying "Sorry, our website is out of date, we
don't really have one." Imagine my surprise when instead I got one
this morning saying it had been shipped and would be arriving Tuesday.
So hopefully I'll be contributing my own number to this thread soon.

I take it you went to Spiel? ;) I was somewhat surprised to see SR4 LE's
for sale at FanPro's booth there yesterday -- €49.80 each, which most
definitely beats US$50 plus about $75 shipping & handling. So I'm now
the owner of LE no. 337, possibly the only English-language SR4 book
that, with thanks to Rob Boyle, actually lists some of the playtesters'
names :)

For any other playtesters on here who want to see their name in print,
you may want to look into buying a German edition as that includes the
full list.

I've only payed $49.99 for the book and $25.25 for shipping & handling to
Denmark.

That sure beats €49.80 plus the entry to Spiel, and the return ticket to
Essen.

Hey... you claimed that you were not even going to get a LE of this edition.

It just seems like it's impossible to keep your SR collection incomplete :-)

If I'd gone by train, yes; but now all it cost me was to pay my
brother's entry ticket to the con :) (€11 each) Not to mention that I
don't consider travel and admission to a con as part of the price of a
single book -- I certainly wouldn't have gone there for just the SR4LE,
but came back with a backpack full of books and other stuff.

> Hey... you claimed that you were not even going to get a LE of this

I claimed that because it looked like the only way to get one, was to
pay more postage than the book itself cost. If I happen to run into a
copy elsewhere for a much more reasonable price, I'm not going to leave
it, am I? :)

> It just seems like it's impossible to keep your SR collection incomplete

But it is -- I probably only have about two-thirds of the books FanPro
published, and that's not even counting my total lack of their versions
of books originally brought out by FASA.

I think I'd find it too much of an effort to read the
"doubles" in order to spot the differences. Even the
unique sourcebooks (Hungary, for example... and I
vaguely recall a regional sourcebook in Spanish or
Portuguese as well?) seem sufficiently missable to me,
as I'm under the impression that they didn't get the
same attention and direction that the FASA
publications did. OTOH, perhaps the latter of those
two factors was the cause of a number of sourcebooks
being published in other languages in the first place.
Do you know if the FanPro publications (those in
translation) differ greatly?

This reminds me that I should give SoE a proper read
sometime; a Euro campaign could be just the thing to
reawaken my enthusiasm for playing SR. Anybody here
ever play a campaign revolving around Europe (or even
a specific European nation)?

cheers,

Jan Jaap

Thanks to Jerry, THWAP #274 will soon be added to my
SR shrine (currently a big cardboard box).

(Terribly Heavy, Wieldable Against Players)

I'd think twice before using a nice collectable in a
frivolous manner, but if it sees too much use a THWAP
might in fact degrade into a TODDLER -Tome Of Dark
Desire Looking Extremely Rickety.

cheers,

Jan Jaap

My campaign started in Seattle, but the current run is to investigate
the reasons behind the killing of some european shadowrunners that
were hiding in Redmond.
That lead them to Hannover (and some surrounding cities, like Celle).
The groups stayed for a couple weeks in Hannover and after reaching
some conclusions, they are now moving to Sicily.

Unfortunately, we play less than 10 sessions per year, so the whole
scheme should be unveiled before 2007, i think :-/
( A quick search will show that i was asking questions about ship
speeds at June, 2004 ... I presume then that the european part of the
campaign started around august 2004.
One year real time -> 15 days of game time, wow )

Speaking of the THWAP version, I have a copy printed on card-stock paper
in a heavy-duty three ring binder. I kid you not - it weighs in at
about 10 lbs. That is a THWAP.

The THWAP is my "player reference during play" copy. I just received my
regular edition from BattleCorps last week which is nice.

TBH I didn't see much difference between the German limited and regular
editions -- both seem to be hardbacks with a picture on the front, the
main different being some of the colors.

It isn't, and I wouldn't if I were you :)

IMHO that's only for the really obsessive collector -- like buying two
copies of the Grimoire II in order to have one with, and one without the
carefully-placed blots on the illustration on page 130 :) Might as well
try and buy one copy from each print run ...

Especially if you don't speak the language. All I could do with those
books you mention would be to look at the artwork and put them on my shelf.

The closest I ever came to that was running and playing in one or two
adventures that took my group to Europe, but never a campaign actually
set elsewhere. I suspect most SR players will have similar experiences;
however, with the upcoming books for SR4, this may change a bit (or it
could turn out like FASA's attempt to turn Denver into a second
"official" setting, of course).
