You know, no matter what gets said, there's a handful of people who read
statements and opinions in whatever manner they want. They put their own
slant on things, and read into things the worst possible meaning.
I never ONCE meant to infer that I was better than anyone else on this
list, or that I should be worshipped because I supposedly have an "in" with
FASA. The entire point of my APology post was just to explain why I defend
FASA and their decisions, and why I take offense when someone blatently
slams FASA and/or the poeple working for FASA. I don't deny your right to
an opinion, I deny your right to put down other people and/or their work to
make your point.
Unfortuantely, far too many people here these days feel the need put down
others to make their point.
And I'm not immune to this syndrom. I lost my cool the other day and
lowered myself to that level. Of course, there were a couple of people ho
responded in kind, or lowered the bar even further, proving the point,
but... I digress...
The simple fact is, this is a community. And like it or not, you HAVE to
be considerate of other peoples opinions and feelings. Yeah, it may be
annoying sometimes. But, well... It's E-mail! If you get upset by a
post, turn off the computer for a couple of hours, and think about how you
want to respond to the mail, and *IF* it's worth responding to. By just
flying off the handle and posting whatever, you hurt and upset others, and
often you show a streak of immaturity. And like I said, I'm old
(relatively) and I'm not immune to my own fits of immaturity, so... <shrug>
At any rate, this list was, a long time ago, a LOT of fun. Granted, I used
to get introuble for the OT stuff. More than once Caric and I would get
our hands smacked. :] But, right now, it's not any fun. It's more a
source of frustration and annoyence.
You guys aren;t here to have fun and discuss something you like. You're
here to bicker and slam anyone who doesn't agree with you, rather than
rationally discuss your opinions and realize that everyone has opinions
about stuff.
Hell, even I don't agree with everything that went into SR3. I wish we'd
have had time to come up with new Barrier rules. I don't agree with the 20
to 1 Karma pool ratio for Metahumans.
But I realize that there are some people out there who really don't like
the new SR3 rules (Heya Barbie :)). I respect that. But, by the same
token, I don't expect to be told I'm stupid for upgrading or not agreeing
with them. You discuss your differance, and after a couple of e-mails, let
it drop. You're not going to persuade them to change, and their not going
to persuade you.
Unfortunately, the trend here isn;t this anymore. You keep arguing until
someone gets mad. Eventually, Gridsec has to step in, say "take it offline
or just drop it", and it'll die down for a few days or even a wek, until an
other thread flares something up.
And these days, I have enough problems and frustrations. This list was one
of my places of refuge, to read and relax, to get away from problems.
After all, that should be the whole point of gaming. But these days, it's
not.
And this means it's time for me to step out for a while. I've been here
for over 3 years now, and while I've taken a couple forced "leaves of
absence" due to e-mail problems and such... Well.. I just can't do this
anymore. Not right now.
I'll be back ina few months probably, and hopefully some of you will have
grown up by then. And for the rest of you... I'll miss you guys. I'll
still be around IRC and such, and you guys can drop me a line via e-mail...
