Subject: I'm back and looking for a game.
Date: Mon May 6 13:45:01 2002
I've been nomail for quite a while, and I'm glad to be back.

Just a few words on each topic I've noticed:

MADs in hospitals: Definately.

Athroform getting past security: Questionable. I'm not sure how
human-like a drone is actually going to move. Since everything an arm
does requires a test (Rigger 3), it seems like they are not quite as
smooth and dexterous as a human arm. I'd probably force the rigger to
make a stealth check vs. Handling or an open stealth check modified by
-Handling, besides deguising visible parts of the drone, just to not
attract attention. People might not realize it's a drone automatically
(how many anthroform drone to you think someone sees in a lifetime), but
they might be conserned and ask the "person" if they need help.

Dikoted Engine: I think it would be prohibitively expensive. However, if
you could give rationale that it would cost < 200% of the list price of
the vehicle, the manufacture's might produce a "special edition" (with
inflated price). If you think they can do it for < 50% of the list price
of the vehicle, they might make it standard and inflate the price of the
car; they would probably do this gradually over 5-10 model years.

Layered Armor: Actuall rules are on p. 285 of SR3. IMO, they don't
really draw much from reality though. I've never actually had occasion to
try this but you might like it: For normal rounds, subtract balistic of
the first layer, 1/2 (round down) impact of each other layers. For AP
rounds, apply the AP effect to the first layer, then treat as normal
hitting the other layers (-bal of second layer -1/2 (down) imp each other
layer). This is supposed to simulate the effect of balistic armor
spreading the energy of the bullet, mkaing the resulting damge much less
balistic. As far as what can be layered, just don't let the players flunk
a reality check. If the players try to take to much advantage of
layering, make the combat pool penalities stiffer, or start using some
type of hit-location rules, so that some of their armor (or all!!) doesn't
"work" all the time.

BTW, If anyone is starting up a email or IRC game, let me know, I'd love
to play. Also, I'd be willing to GM a game via e-mail, again if you are
interested, let me know. Personal email is in my .sig. [I know player/gm
request is a little OT for the list, so I won't mention it again, at least
for a few months.]
