Assorted comments about improved invis's
appearance on the astral plane and the masking
thereof
</snip>

I believe that SR3 (or MiTS) has a paragraph in
the section preceding the illusion spells which
states that mana illusions (so not improved
invis) have to be successfully assensed in order
to be recognised as such.

Of course the thing about masking one of these is
that you are disguising or concealing their mana
on the astral, which would probably stop them
from appearing as anything.

So the question becomes "does not seeing an
invisibility spell stop it from working?"

Or should the question be "if you cast an invisibility spell and no one is
there to (not) see it, did it work?"
