Subject: Insect Spirit Question...
Date: Tue, 22 Mar 1994 00:08:00 -0500
I recently found something interesting in the Grimoire II about insect spirits,
and I want to verify its validity... because I don't think it could possibly
be accurate... I only just noticed it (so I haven't used insect spirits
before, sue me).

According to the stats given for various insect spirits (all of these are true
form, BTW), the body for a spirit is given as F+n/F+n, where n is some
modifier (positive, negative, or zero). For example, an Ant Soldier is given a
body score of F+1/F ... This gives body scores that are always hovering
slightly above 1...

This doesn't make sense to me... ALL of the insect spirit stats have this...
is this legitimate? I really don't know what to think... can I get some advice
on this? Anybody else know why they are like this, or how to correct the
problem if it's wrong?

I appreciate the help.

You're misreading the notation. A Body stat of X/Y means Body X with Y
points of armor. So your Force 5 spirit doesn't have a Body of 1.2, but
a Body of 6 with the Power Level of all attacks against it reduced by 5 (or
5 autosuccesses if you're playing SR1)... Nasty, eh?

It sounds like you're dividing the two numbers. What it's supposed to mean
is a body score of F+1, and F points of natural armor (Uh-Oh).

About the body of insect spirits:
F+1/F, for example: A true form force 3 spirit with this body has a body
rating of 4, and 3 points of ballistic/impact compound natural armor.
This is the exoskeleton, I would gather.
