Whoh!!! Last I heard there are no Insect TOTEMS, the Shamans (note use of
this plural for those who care) are getting their power directly from the
queens, which are just powerful free spirits! ARE there insect totems? I
think and hope not!

Yes, there are. The queens aren't the be-all and end-all. Also, queens
are NOT free spirits. When they are summoned into the world, they remain
under control of the conjuring shaman until they BREAK free.

OTH, the totems don't interact with the shamans, they interact with the
queens. Where did you think the queens got THEIR power from?

first place I read about it.

Actually, according to Bug City, insect shaman aren't really shamans at
all: they get no totem advantages or disadvantages, apart from the major
one that, if the queen they have summoned dies, they lose all their
power... (to players who've read this bit of info: it may be bad for your
character's health to use it if your GM hasn't told you already :) The
word "totem" is used for convenience, not because the insect spirits are
actual totems in the same sense of the word as Dog, Eagle, or Gator.
