It seems to me that all metahuman SUB-species (Trolls, Orks, Elves,
Dwarfs, and Humans) can interbreed otherwise in the FASA taxonomy the
nomenclature would have been for separate species and not SUB-species.
The definition of species is dependent upon the fact that separate
species cannot interbreed and produce viable/productive offspring
(except in plants, but that's an entirely different topic). SUB-species
are members of the same species separated by geography but still able to
interbreed if brought together.
"But what does geography have to do with metahumans?" Well, nothing.
At this moment in time (before the Awakening) the only force able to
cause phenotypic differences (phenotypic because the genes haven't been
changed to a point of not breeding) is geographic separation. But in
Shadowrun, magic has brought about these changes and the definition of
of Sub-Species has probably changed to incorporate it.
The question should not be could and Elf and a Troll interbreed (the
can). The question should be WOULD an Elf and a Troll interbreed. YUK!!
