A post that I just read made me curious about something:

Are there international translations of the Shadowrun books? And if so,
what?

The thought had never occurred to me, but I suppose it's possible. But
there isn't anything on the fasa site, but I remember someone talking about
a France Sourcebook that only came out in France, and someone else used
European notation for decimals, and it just made me a bit curious. Thanks.

France SB, hungary SB, Japan has a japan part in their translations, Germany
has lots of ztranslations and three books, from which one was translated into
english.
Thats the ones I know for sure.

Is there an on-line translation of the France sourcebook? (French to
English obviously).

Also anyone any info on the state of Russia c.2057? (and yes I know

What about core rules? I saw someone say French in a later post... I take
it there's Germany... Hey, anyone have a German SRII book they wanna sell?

Actually, there is at least a french and a poland (I remember someone
refering to it) translation of SR. I think there must be a german one too.

Yep, there's a France sourcebook in french which isn't translated to that
day. I think there will be some modifications however.
The best experience is the Germany sourcebook. It was edited in german then
suffered some modifications before being printed in english.

As a general rule, many countries were (and perhaps still are) intended to
write a sourcebook about their country. It's quite logical it goes out in
home langage before going out in english.

For the editors, I only know the french (in addition to FASA), it's Jeux
Descartes.

There's a few more.. I think Spain and Hungray (Is that spelled right?), an
one more, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I have it written
down though.

That's Hungary, Adam. Aka Magyarorszag.

And then there's the italian version, published by Nexus (!), but seems
like it's not selling too well. Rules are too difficult for the beginners
and the world is too much detailed. Which brings me to a long forgotten
topic: the Shadowrun Guide to Newbies (or woodchu***). Is it dead? Barely
breathing? In coma? :)

The SR main rulebook has been translated into a number of languages, I
think at least into French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish, though
I'm not 100% sure about up to 3 of them :) There are probably more; come
to think of it, weren't there Czech and Polish versions as well?

There are some sourcebooks for specific countries (I have the German
edition of the Germany Sourcebook on my shelf, for example), some novels
as well, and a lot of FASA-published sourcebooks have been translated into
German -- which looks weird, when you start reading in them a bit, BTW. I
don't know about other languages, because I only ever had the opportunity
to examine German books up close.

There is hardly anything on FASA's site about anything... Although I must
add I don't check it very often (for exactly that reason) so perhaps I
missed something.

You can order them through a bookstore if you know the ISBN, but expect to
pay quite a lot of money. I think my Deutschland in den Schatten cost me
about 1 1/2 or 2 times as much as the English edition would have set me
back.

Another way to get them would be to buy them if you happen to be in the
country (like, if you go on holiday to France, find a game store and ask
for the France sourcebook, under its french name of course :) Or you could
get a local to buy it and send it to you, trading it for something else
for example.

Oh, and it helps if you speak the language before buying the book :)

I could've sworn recently that I've seen something that lists Sourcebooks
that have come out in different languages...Maybe on Paolo Marcucci's
Shadowrun Archive. Maybe in that new link to Amazon Books that he has...

There qere also some books translated to Portuguese, but the
translation was awful
and the people who did this just stopped printing the books after some
months. There's
another corp saying they'll release new stuff soon, though.

Hi, I'm german and I'm playing Shadowrun for some years now.Of course to main
book is translated and corrected and got one error I know.
All other Sourcebooks had been translated or will be in near future, I hope...
