and metahumans are going to
face discrimination in a lot of places (esp. the CAS).
I resent the implication that the South is anymore racist than the rest of the US.
It's very easy to stereotype the South and Southerners as racists, and to believe
that this racism will be applied to anyone who is not white, and (in Sr) human.
Racism is an imbedded part of the South, but it is not something that is encouraged
either. People are racist everywhere. For example, there was recently (about a
month ago) a riot in Memphis during a KKK rally. (It was the anti-KKK audience that
caused it. But that's not the point.) The KKK group that decided to come to Memphis
was from Gary, Indiana. Deep in Yankee territory.
Now, to get to the point of relating this to Sr. Racism based on color in the South
is there because it has been around for so long, and old habits (even awful ones like
racism) die hard. Racism vs. Metahumans is a relatively new hate. You won't find
that people are going to be more or less racist than any other part of the country.
Remember this when campaign's hit the glorious CAS.
Oh, if anyone wonders about my knowledge on this, I live currently in the South, and
started life out as a Yankee. I have seen racism in any number of places, from
numerous people, and all of it based on ignorance.
A final note. I'm not upset or anything, but I've seen this misconception a lot and
decided that some clarification on attitudes was in order. Someday, I'll have to
write that "The South in 2050" article I've been meaning to do.
