First of all, an intro. I've been GMing Shadowrun (ShadowRun?) since
its fist appearance here in Valencia, Spain, in late 89. Well, I have
to admit we (my friends and me) didn't play very often the first
years, but I tried my best and I can proudly say that I have no lack
of players :) I don't know if I can be clearly understood in English
'cause ovbiously it's not my own language, but I'll try my best 8).
Oh, yes! I nearly forgot it! You can call me Monde. Everyone does it
8)

I've been lurking for a month or so, and I decided that it is time I
make an appearance, so here it goes my first question.
How does exactly work the clairvoyance spell? One of my players wants
his character to learn it and I still have some questions on its
effects. Does the voluntary target mean that the spell allows you to
see through his/her/it eyes? Or that you can make him "clirvoyant"
and he could see as if actually present at any point within the spell
range? Could you change the target or point of view without recasting
the spell?

I hope this isn't too much for my first "public" appearance 8)

For a second language I'd say you are doing great with English. Which is more
than I can say... I don't have a second language (that's another thing I never
got around to doing... oh well).

The clairvoyance spell allows the recipient of the spell to see things at a
distance as if actually present. So, the magician cast it on him/her/itself (I
hate the fact English has no neuter pronouns :), then the magician receives the
benefit of the spell. If the magician has a friend, and that friend volunteers
to have the spell cast on them, then they get the benefit. It does not allow
the magician to see through another persons eyes. Also, an important note, you
cannot target spells using clairvoyance, it's not considered direct line of
sight.
As for changing the point of view without recasting, I don't know that there
has ever been an official ruling. The rules themselves AFAIK don't
specifically make that point clear. However, in any game I've played in, the
magician was allowed to move the point of view around, using the spell to
"scan" areas for trouble or whatever.

Of course, I'm not really the one to be asking the Magic Questions too...
