As I've mentioned a few things about this campaign before, I thought
I should let you guys know how it was going. It was quite an
interesting session. Things didn't go as planned at all.

The team was sent to a bug-infested town to get Warlock In Chains
out (For breaking parole). WIC was a powerful mage out to kill bugs.
The last session was about getting into the town, joining up with
Nivenay, fighting a few beetle bugs, building up paranoia. WIC, being
a very ruthless, paranoid and actually insane person, the team found
him in a church preaching to a congregation of dead. One of the
players commented they wasn't listening, his answer was, 'They should
have' - correctly enough. They talk some more, he has, more or less,
managed to recruit the team to help him take out a bug hive.

One of the players says, "We have tranq patches. Why not just drug
him and go?". WIC hears it, of course. If he was a normal guy he
might have considered things closer, but he was definitely unstable &
paranoid, and the team knew it. So he tries to take down the team
with a spell. (Sleep). Good try, too. Two go down, two is left
standing. (Everyone spent their entire karma pool, more or less.).
One of them draws his bow, shoots Warlock dead. Overdamage enough
for instant, unrecoverable death.

Mission failed thoroughly. A few planned scenes go down the drain.
The team's mage goes ballistic, having a lot riding on completing the
mission. The archer isn't happy either. Good roleplay all around.

I quickly patch the thread to change the mission's focus from getting
Warlock out to getting out at all before the area is saturated with
Strain III. (They've got a certain girl named Nivenay in the team as
well.). The area was to be saturated anyway, but I had them learn of
it. All roads out was now thoroughly blockaded by guards who shoot
first, ask questions later. It's winter, cold, communications down..
not good.

They went to a nearby nuclear plant for assistance, to see if there
was snowscooters there. The two guards outside was heavy as sin(heavy
security armor, miniguns). Two went in to speak with the combat mage
on duty. The Combat Mage (Carl Morgan) asked to speak with the team's
mage under four eyes. They did. They are aware there must be about
three insect shamans in town. He offered Genie power and the
assistance of some powerful allies... ("No deal. Why do you tell me
this? Wouldn't it put you at risk if I told it to anyone else?"
"Simple. You're too weak to touch me. And if you turned me down I'd
kill you. Which you allready has... " *boom*). Bugs pop out of the
air, sedate'em and bring them into the queen's incubation chamber.
The three outside eavesdrop on the guards' commlink. ("The two guests
was bug spirits. The others are, too, probably. If they approach or
try to speak, shoot them."). The guards is apparently not in on the
game, but the team decides it cannot take chances and kills them.
(Uses a car on remote as distraction. It's destroyed, but prevents
the archer from resisting 21D from a minigun.). They move into the
complex, down below the reactor. Extremely aliens-esque place. They
enter a larger chamber with bodies attached to the walls, is attacked
by a number of bugs, survive, gets Genie and Coriander down. They
decide to try to burn the nest. (End of session.).

I dropped a number of lines from Nivenay which should have set them
thinking. (She apparently knows a *lot* about the bugs... things
which *NOONE* human knows. They failed to notice, because another in
the party spouted lots of stuff on bug spirits all the time. (Without
knowing exactly what he was speaking about, which was good because
it was info his character shouldn't have, IMO. Beautiful.;). She's
also 'slightly' tougher than a physad has a right to be. And has a
few quirks.). They didn't bite yet, which is good.

Hope you enjoyed reading about the travails of the gang.
