Due to the fact that college is startin up and all my players are goin back to school and
I'm not I was thinking of runing it IRC while they were gone. I've seen a couple spots
where they run some games but has anyone here done that? I'm not sure how it will go
because half the fun is sitting there and playing it out with everyone.

Yeah... I'm in the same boat as you. Try www.webrpg.com: They have a
specialised client with dice rollers & everything.

There are IRC games, I suggest if you are looking for one, try using mIRC or
any of the other programs, and connect to one of the unsplit Undernet
servers (such as dallas.tx.us.undernet.org) and join #Shadowrun

Don't expect a game right away however. GM's will run games when they
can/feel like it, and some of the games are closed campaigns. Whatever you
do, DON'T pester people to GM. It will just piss everyone off in the
channel :)

What about using AIM? I haven't tried it, but you're supposed to be able to
even do voice chats w/ it.

Great, *if you only do AIM members*. AIM and AOL can't intermix chat,
something that confuses me to NO end.

Erm... I would try it but I think you need AOL...

Regardless, you don't need AOL for the text chat part of AIM. Might be more
universal. Just a thought.

The newer versions you can, but everybody would have to have that edition of
AIM and of course a working microphone...

Not to mention that IMO text offers many advantages over voice: Much less
bandwidth/latency use, no "talking on top of one another" or having to talk
like you were using a CB radio, logging, cut and paste, etc..
