Ivy Ryan has been taking a lot of flack for her 350+ Karma Pool
characters and I'll be the first to agree that it sounds a little like her
campaign takes place in the Land of Oz <G> but on reflection maybe we're
just looking at one of the first groups of actual high-level SR chaacters.
What I'm trying to say is; some of you experienced gamers will know where
I'm coming from on this; remember when you first started playing D&D (or
AD&D) and you're running around in your wimpy leather armour with a
whopping 7 hit points? What would you say if someone started talking about
their characters who had +5 Plate Mail of Etherealness and a +5 Vorpal
Sword and 400 hit points and just killed Tiamat last week? My first
thought would probably have been either COOOOll or Yeah, Right! I think
that this is what is happening. I've barely gotten past Grade 0 Initiation
with any of my characters; I'm 26 years old and living in Ottawa, Ontario
so between work, school, significant others, etc. I count my lucky stars
when I get a group that lasts longer than 2 weeks! My current group
includes myself and an older married couple so the sig. other and the
school problems are solved.
Apparently, Ivy got lucky and found a group that was stable enough to
reach high-powered gaming. If they got there legitimately, all the more
power to them, if not, it's their loss. Either way, I think the topics
getting boring and the quoting back and forth is gettin' brutal.

I have a character from SR1 that's a phyAd, with about 150 karma in 'im. He
represents about 3 years of playing, some luck, and fast footwork. It's also
intresting to note that he's not in any kind of initiate group (He's
convinced he's not magical...), so all his karma went into character
development. (He's the only fighter I can think of with a guitar skill
higher than his firearms...) It can happen, you know. It's just rare to
find it.

I'd like to know what his abilities are. They must be subtle if he
doesn't think he's magical. Do you ever get the feeling that you're losing
out on the potential of the Physical Adept from not initiating him?
