I read it and agreed with it. Didn't respond because I didn't want to spam
the list with a ditto :)

| The world map idea is a good one, btw.

On this I have something to say. FASA's stance is that they want
GM's to have the freedom to do what they want with the rest of the
world (at least, that's what I heard). So they aren't going to
publish a world map. Fine. Except, that they make several
references to other countries from time to time. The one that comes
to mind is a reference to a metahuman country somewhere in Siberia.
My feeling is that if they are going to say something about a country
they should at least let us know where that country is. I don't need
a World Sourcebook, I just want to know the names of countries and
where their borders are. And if they don't want to lose money on the
deal they can post it on their web page (with one of those standard
freeware notes that if you like it send a couple bucks to FASA).

The lack of a world map is the only thing about Shadowrun that really
frustrates me.

Posting on the web site would work well for me. They could do the maps
in full color and avoid the hefty printing costs this way as well. I
agree with David that the lack of a world map is frustrating. And I don't
see how doing one would overly limit FASA's creativity. Afterall they'd
still have all those individual countries to develope and who knows what's
inside those borders!

Add to that something that was pointed out before -- borders routinely
changed nowadays. Even if all of othem aren't 'official' border changes,
some of them can't be ignored..

Of course, this means FASA may need to re-draw the map at times, but if it
*is* posted to their web page, its as simple as throwing up a new HTML
document.

I'm afraid FASA is still a corp, and so intends to earn money with
their work :-(

Yes. But perhaps we get a world-map as a side-effect of NERPS: NAGTTW

Hopefully. One thing we're told we'll at least get are maps to go with
Erik's short country descriptions, and hopefully also for the other
articles. A world map should be doable, at least one with (our view of)
FASA's countries sketched in.
