manifestation of the energy inherent in all things [even 'dead' things
like rocks, and buildings have an aura] . When a mage examines an aura,
he can determine from the corruscating patterns the state of the object,
it's vitality [thing's that are 'dead' have a darker aura, like the
afore mentioned rock, cyberlimbs, and some players' heads <grin>. The
aura also shows the interaction of, in this case player's lifeforce with
the world around him. If scrutinized intently, a mage can see the
energies interacting with a living persons aura, as he absorbes and
releases it, like minute wisps. This especially becomes evident when two
people are in emotional flux. Lovers, for example, a mage would see a
circulation of energy between the two, refreshing and enhancing the pair
as they hold hands, etc. In an argument, he'd see a mostly a
unidirectional flow, from the person who was losing the argument or
conflict, to the one that was winning. The winner feels refreshed, while
the loser is depleted[ some parapsychologists say this is why man is
such a confrontational creature. Most people are out of touch with this
ambient flow of 'energy' and subconsciously 'know' they can acquire from
others thru violent means(which are the easiest. Even mages who
understand this theorem, still fall prey to it for the 'rush' it gives
them. Shadow free spirits especially thrive on this kind of energy).
Vampires, a mage would note, seem to be completely isolated from this
ambient pool of background energy, so instinctively they hunger for it
by stealing it away from others (the medium is usually a transfer of
blood, but there are exceptions, in the case of the succubi, who drain
the lifeforce directly, without the need of a medium.] Same
parapsychologists note this is an extreme example of the violent
behavior exibited by people in conflict.
A person who died of violent means, his lifeforce who be seen to
violently spew out, like a burst balloon, while one who died peacefull
would be seen to slowly ebb out, like a balloon with a pinprick slow
leak.
Getting back to the subject of if a mage can examine his own aura, yes
he can. [Whew. Hope I didn't confuse the subject. for a transcript of
