Subject: Josie Cruise: A NEW CONCERN
Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 10:14:38 EDT
The battle has changed, mon troops. Disturbing news from various fronts has
come to my attention. This is no longer a battle to get just the Josie
Cruise novel into publication, but one to possibly save the Shadowrun novel
line altogether.

Now, don't get alarmed, ROC hasn't cancelled the novel series, but from what
I hear they were close at one point to doing it. This cut-back to only 3
novels per year is the only reason we're still seeing SR novels at all.

So, here's the list of names in support for the Josie Cruise novel that I've
gotten over the past three days. Anyone who is interested in signing this
online petition for Jon's Josie Cruise novel and to keep the Shadowrun novels
going in general (maybe to return them to the original 6 per year), please
e-mail me privately with your handle and e-mail address. The petition will
now be sent to ROC as an all-around request for the reinstatement of the 6
novels per year for the Shadowrun novel line, with Jon's novel at the top of
the list.

The people I've heard from so far (including my own vote):

1)Twist (Twist0059@***.com)
2)Mist Warrior (themistwarrior@********.com.au)
3)Alexander Koerver (darth-maul@***.net)
4)Xyron-II (markus.meisen@****.uni-muenchen.de)

6)Geoff Haacke (knight_errant30@*******.com)
7)Munin (munin@*****.inka.de)
8)Danyel Woods (9604801@****.ac.nz)
9)Rafael Vega G. (fliavega@***.net.co)
10) Iridios (iridios@***.net, Iridios@****.com, iridios@*********.com)

Twist, a question. Do you LIVE for Gaming Paranoia and Misinformation?

Lets' see here...ROC was cutting back the number of books, this much is true.
As for dropping the whole line...well, lets' see, since FASA was in the
process of finding, and aquiring, a better publisher, I suppose in a twisted
sort of manner, this is true also. However, they have a new one, but ROC is,
last I knew, finishing out the contract for the remainder of the year
(current). I can't recall right off the top of my head who FASA was
beginning/looking to work with concerning the future novels though (Steve?
Mongoose? Rob???).

Twist, did you say you were going to Gencon this year? IF you are, would you
PLEASE go to the "Whats' up with FASA" and "What's up with Shadowrun"
seminars that are going to be held there. It might let you relax a bit.

Actually, everything I said came from a conversation I had with Mike and
Donna over the past few days. The only reason we still have SR novels is
because a deal was cut to lower the number released per year to three.
(Mechwarrior apparently got the other three.)

Yeah. I was asking opinions about the Josie Cruise novel situation and the
online petition. Why?

Okay folks, stop here....

Though I too would really like to see "the Josie Cruise" novel (especially
since I count Jon as one of my better terms personal aquaintance/friends
types), it ain't likely to happen and it has NOTHING to do with decisions at
FASA. It has to do with ROC.

What was it Mike M. said at the seminars..."Mechwarrior-3 Novels are being
published by <cough>another publishing company<cough>..."

Actually, the petition turned into a "Get The 6 SR Novels Per Year Contract
Back" to be sent to ROC. We really should stand up for our novel line and
make ROC stop treating it like second fiddle to their precious BattleTech
dynasty, IMHO.

No. He said that VOR novels were from another publisher. ROC loves battletech.

Not that some of us wouldn't be happy to see ROC go; Getting books from them was
PULLING teeth out...with chopsticks. Notgood.
