Hi All,

August 18th, 2005
Shadowrun Fourth Edition eBook

A piece of regretful news — despite a sleepless night hunched over on a
futon, working feverishly until the 07:00 munchies hit and I was forced
to wander down the street for bad eggs and worse service, I was not
able to finish the Shadowrun Fourth Edition eBook before leaving for
GenCon.

This means the eBook release will likely not be until sometime next
week. We apologize for this delay, but look forward to the regular and
Limited Edition release at GenCon, and our release party on Friday
night. Please stop on by if you’re at the con!

Hey, where's the rampant speculation? There's a lot of fertile ground
for it in that character sheet... like the fact that the mage's
"physical track" and "stun track" are displayed as numbers, which
could mean they're no longer one-size-fits-all. Or the fact that his
spells have no Force.

Looks promising.

Maybe everyones battling it out on the forums. THere hasn't been much
comment here on either of the characters or the actually character
sheet.
Unless everyone one else on the list besides me and bria were game
testers so there's nothing new to them, in which case you all sux ! :P
Or what would be even more shocking is that everyone is happy with
everything where've seen so far cause thats exactly how they would have
done it and thus have no comments to make.

OK so to prompt some discussion here are some of my ideas

1) Notoriety and Public Awarness - will be interesting to see just how
much these are incorporate into the games mechanics.
2) Contacts - Loyalty and Level - YEAH. Small but good to see it in
there.
3) Interested to see how damage now works.
4) Init Passes - Anyone want to tackle what that might be ?
5) Ranged Weapons - AP - Armour Penetration value ??
6) This one has been mentioned on the forums, but what are people
thoughts one Dodge and Perception as skills ?
7) With the combat mage he has an Init[Astral] of 8[6] and yet his Init
Passes[Astral] is 1[3]. So his astral init is lower but he gets more
passes ?? I think this one will have to wait for the rules.

Physical and stun ARE no longer one size fits all, if you go down and
download the SR4 character sheet, you'll note that physical is 8+body/2
round up, and I don't remember offhand what the stun was....

Thanks...though, that means that a troll is going to go out just as easy as
a human for stun.....unless there's some rule in there....whereas....a troll
could easily end up with 14 blocks of physical.....

Hey who says trolls still receive negatives to their wisdom ? ( *checky

According to Derek Hyde, on 19-8-05 04:13 the word on the street was...

> Thanks...though, that means that a troll is going to go out just as easy as
> a human for stun.....

And? In SR1 and SRII they were _easier_ to stun due to that -1 Willpower
modifier, and most stun damage was resisted with exactly that. That
means that in SR3, it's also about as easy to stun a troll to
unconsciousness as it is to do the same to any other race except dwarfs.
No change there, then, for SR4.

Yep :) Trolls will keep standing longer in most fights than anyone else,
believe me :)

I hate speculating. I reserve judgement, until I have seen the game in
print (have to wait till fall for the German edition).
Of course, this won't stop me from speculating anyways. *g*

Notriety: The possibility of a civilian to ID you and call the Lone Star
SWAT team on you.
Public Awareness: How do the peers relate to you? How much is Mr.
Johnson willing to give you for a run?

> 2) Contacts - Loyalty and Level - YEAH. Small but good to see it in there.

True. Loyalty is looking promising to me, as I may be able to determine
how likely a contact will betray a character.

> 3) Interested to see how damage now works.

As the synopsis of the new game mechanics look familiar to me, I guess
they will work comparable to the new World of Darkness: Successes Damage. the more
successes, the better.

> 4) Init Passes - Anyone want to tackle what that might be ?

One initiative roll, with Init Passes actions, maybe.

> 5) Ranged Weapons - AP - Armour Penetration value ??

AP allows a player to ignore all armor below its value.

> 6) This one has been mentioned on the forums, but what are people
> thoughts one Dodge and Perception as skills ?

I don't know about Dodge, but Perception is a good addition. This allows
to play a not-so-smart character, living on the edge, because of high
Perception. I never was entirely happy to throw in perception with
intelligence as an attribute.

I guess, he is allowed to act more often per Init turn, but is likely to
have a slow start.
