Hoi
can sombody please tell me how you manage the Matrix?
One of my players uses the Karmapool to reroll no success dice
and he seems to have no problem racing the nodes.
I ruled that the pool only refreshes after he left the node and came back
in ! It is still to easy for him....Help

The matrix is notoriously easy if you have a 1/2 decent deck, I believe though
that you may be using the karma pool incorrectly. The karma pool get's
refreshed every encounter, what exactly makes up an encounter is really for
the GM to decide but basically if the characters have chance to take a
breather etc then the last encounter has just finished. For decking, I would
say that each system counts as 1 encounter, so don't refresh that pool until
he jacks out and decides to come back in. If he starts munchkining by placing
back doors over the place then jacking out, coming back in etc then have a
system decker notice the backdoor and be ready for him.

Well, the Karma Pool is supposed to refresh only at the end of the `Scene' --
which is whatever you decide it is. Simplest way is to say that the whole of
the time in the Matrix is one scene. This might be a tad harsh, though...
BTW: How many dice in this guy's Karma Pool? (and remember, the 1st re-roll
uses 1 die, 2nd takes 2 more, and so on...)

Your problem, chummer, ain't the Matrix. it's your use of the karma pool.

The refress rate shouldn't be fast enough for hin to re-use his Karma pool
more than 2 or three times on an entire run, much less one or two entries
onto the node. Only when the decker gets a chance to rest, really rest
(like a few hours to spare, when he's not overly concerned about getting
caught) should his karma pool refresh, and switching a node or two ain't
long enough for that. Just to quote the book fro a sec"Once the Karma
pool is emptied, it is no longer avaible for that encounter... What
constitutes an encounter? A single scene or or event in the story. It
migth be in a single location or several closely related areas..." etc.
My current GM (who we are at slight odds about the pool, but it cuts down
on munchanism) refreshes a Karma pool once or twice a week, at most.
Mostly, because we are all high on adrenaline miost of the week, since
we've been on constant runs lately, but, it works.
