Not that it really affects my game, but I never found that the Karma Pool
was worth 10% of acumulated Karma. For most of my players the KP was used
so infrequently that it was better to have the 5% ratio so that yo got more
Karma to improve with, this went doubly so for Magical Characters.

In my campaign we have a house rule for the Karma Pool:

First off, it went boring with characters having a Karma Pool of 15
or more. Because they managed every really important dice throw. So
we got this rule ....

(1. free)

You start with one Karma Pool dice for free.
After that Karma Pool dice cost as follows

2. 1 good Karma (gK)
3. (1+2) 3 gK
4. (1+2+3) 6 gK
5. (1+2+3+4) 10 gK
6.... 10 gK for each new one

That way you can get _fastly_ your safety Karma Pool. But it gets
expensive if you want MORE.

Most of my players have 4 to 7 Karma Pool.

An other advantage is that you don't get Karma Pool automatically.
You don't have to spend Karma on the Pool.

Just my suggestion - it works perfectly in my campaign!

I don't think I understand...Do you mean instead of 1 good Karma point you get 2
dices, when you would normally have 3 good Karma points you have 3, and when you
would have 6 you only get 4 dices etc..?

I think Sandman's talking about 'buying' additional Karma Pool dice with
good Karma. And even if that's _not_ what he means, I may use it that
way; it saves all that %^&$# accounting and it limits KP size quite
handily...
(Player: 'Hmmm...do I use those ten Karma points to raise my Negotiation
skill to 5, or my Karma Pool to 5?' Me: 'Well, which is more likely to
save your ass? <EGMG>')

That's exactly what I meant. You buy your Karma Pool as skills or
attributes with the costs I mentioned in my previous posting.

It really works great!
