There's one *major* problem with keeping specifics about tech
secret from your players. And that is the fact that the average SR player
comes armed with A) The Rulebook (v1.0 or v2.0) B)The Street Sam's Catalogue
(lots of neat toys! a must have) and C) ShadowTech (even more neat toys).
Keeping things like details about tech in my campaign were a
virtual impossibility, since the majority of my players memorized the stats
for the majority of the tech. Also, several of my players were also very
good at mathematics and statistics, and could figure out with 90% accuracy
the stats for almost anything I could throw at them in the course of a few
combats. (I know, I've done the same when I play). Now if your players are
not as scientifically minded as mine, you still have to cope with their
memories. Basically, unless you want to completely re-write all the
equipment listings for all the books and supplements, it's not really worth
the effort to try to keep things secret.
