I took a conversation with Leland to private mail but I didn't tell
him that :) He replied with:

We've explored wives to SR, how about kids? (Besides bull :))

I had a character with a 13 year old daughter. She was involved in
a couple of stories, and the retrieving the daughter (who was
a hellion) was featured in a couple of them.

Reminds me of the recent plotline in Xena.

(spoiler space, just in case)

Xena's sidekick, Gabriel, had a baby that was fathered by an evil
god. The baby matured rather quickly (it must be a god thing) and
turned out to be evil (suprise).

At some point the child killed Xena's child and Xena and Gabriel
became enemies (but it's okay now because everything was wrapped up
in a musical extravaganza... you had to see it to believe it :).

Anyway, it'd be fairly easy to give a runner an "evil" child that
becomes the team's antagonist.

You could go the magical/technological route and have an NPC gather
some "genetic material" from a character (maybe a female on male
daterape?...). She combines this with her own eggs and quick grows a
child to manhood. Of course the kid isn't quite right. Throw in
some Frankenstien elements and... :)

Anyway, there's definitly a lot of room for ideas.

Ouch. I like it. Twisted, warped. Yep I'm in.
You would have to have decent players however.
(I can see the type to go, 'Who cares' and try and nuke it)
Heh..What's wrong with Xena! We all need our fix of
leather now and again. :) (Hmm..there is another thought, a PA
designed after Xena, something to do in my free time. :))

Kinda goes along with the movie Species, also. She has sex, and actually
feels conception and moments later gives birth. Imagine this happening to
one of the PC's. He/She has sex with an NPC and moments later either gives
or witnesses the birth of their child. Put a twist in it and have the
other parent run off with the child so that it may mature and come back to
haunt the party later. They know it's out there, just don't know when it
will show up

Runner1: "Dammit, I'm gonna kill that kid!"
Runner2: "Don't you think you are over-reacting?"
Runner1: "Look, I know he's got your genes, but he just blow up my
house, shot, stabbed, poisoned, AND spit on me. But where I really
draw then line is where he summoned that demon to trash my car.
He's an evil little fragger, and I'm going to kill him"

Runner2: "He's not evil, just confused and misunderstood. Besides,
you'll need a silver stake to kill him."

Hmm ever since they've seen what happened to Bull, most of my PC's have been
VERY careful about using "protection!"

However, the voodoun in the group, Sangre has just discovered a six year old
son he fathered by his wife's sister. (It's complicated, but he mentioned it
in his background)

When the boy's mother mysteriously vanished, Sangre took the child in.
Since Sangre is currently involved with another woman, I've been having lots
of fun role playing his son Paolo (Yes, we named him after our resident
Archive Master! ;-))

One of my player's PC once dad two kids. Six and seven years old, IIRC.
Quite funny to GM, actually, as you could be as nasty and annoying as you
wanted to be, and he still had to smile and tell you slowly why you
shouldn't do that. ;)

I have a character that *had* children. They were killed by the
father when he went on a drunken rage. He then shot his wife (my
character) and then did himself. She survived, but her face was
horribly disfigured.

This event is what motivated her to live in the shadows in a Batman
kind of way.

Wow. The ultimate "life sucks" character. I can't bring myself to
play characters with strong family connections. I have no problem
with having commitments...but I guess I just don't like having to
role-play the family aspect of it. I'd rather be in charge of an
orphanage than be a married character. Hmm.

I have characters who are married and it makes for intersting plot
twist. Dependants are a wonderful
plot device I recomend them.
