Hu, no, thank god or whatever else, it isn't official. There was major
stress between Jeux Descartes (the french editor) and FASA, since Descartes
wished to make it official and translated in english, like Deutschland in
den Schatten by FanPro. But Descartes published it before even submitting a
rough translation... Which discarded any further developpment.

Hopefully for us, in fact. That book is quite terrible. Though it has some
good ideas, and provides a quite different feeling than UCAS-shadowrunning,
the history is lacking any kind of plausibility, the writing is bland (the
main text body isn't in-character, and shadowtalk is laaaaaame), the art is
just ugly, and above all it is disgustingly drippling with chauvinism and
clueless, thick ED crossover stuff.
Did you knew that France had a big /open/ horror gate ?
Did you knew that France had the largest dragon of the world ?
Did you knew that France kicked the megacorps out, and they didn't even
dared to reply ?
Did you knew french people had very big d***s ?
*sigh*

But there is still some good stuff in it, and the book is quite well
balanced between general background and local details, making it easy to
use for the GM. It is neverless lightyears away from FASA standards.

For rabid collectors or people still eager to have some ready material for
France, you can find it for example there:
http://www.crypte-neodelas.fr/
or there :
http://www.starplayer.com or .fr, I don't remember.
Cover price is 165 FF - around 21 US$, without shipping.

P.S.: no, I'm not advocating for the EuroSB project. No, I'm obviously not...
BTW, Mike Mulvihill received a quick and direct translation of Shadowrun
France a few weeks ago.

Ah. Okay. Sorry 'bout that. It looked pretty official to me, but
I just meant that in the sense of "it was published and it looked
like a Shadowrun product," not that it was canon.

Was this the part where Lofwyr went in to investigate and came
out looking like he'd gone several rounds with the dragon version
of Mike Tyson? :)

Can you give me a page ref for this? I'm too lazy to try to read
the whole thing with my terrible French, but I'd like to find
this part.

Hi !

I'm partially agree with what you say ...
I think french background is not as horrible as you say ... but maybe you
need to be french to really appreciate it ... you know, when you live in
france, this book have a few things that are quite funny because of their
relationship with actual state of the country ... and they also use in a
very good way some parts of the french culture and historical ... like
druids in Bretagne, nuclear problems ...
but i'm agree with you on a few points :
- The french matrix is mighty and haven't been touched at the 2029's crash
... that's sucks !!
- The biggest dragon, it is totally chauvinism, okay...

and above all it is disgustingly drippling with chauvinism and

that's tipically french, doesn't it ? so that's normal to find stuff like
that in a shadowrun book made by french people ...

> the art is just ugly
like in all books of shadowrun 2 !!

Please have a peek at page 43, you even have a picture ! Enjoy !
Hell, I'll post a translation, so that everybody can appreciate the bliss
french players are roving through.

The Auvergne Dragon

This huge creature is certainly the largest occidental dragon ever
registered. It is also one of France's greatest enigma. Since its discover
in 2011, it caused both curiosity and worry. What it is, why is it asleep,
its indirect influences on the Auvergne climate and the strange phenomenom
known as magma astral space, are all elements that researchers can't
explain. The only sure fact is that it is laying in the Puit de Sancy
crater on a lava sea. It is between 30 and 40 meters long, and has a 50
meter wingspan.

(>) A pal said that its dreams could influence a few people's mind. In
fact, it may already be active, preparing its wake up through the people it
is controlling.
(>) Tetra

(>) Why not, with those beasties everything's possible. What is sure, for
the moment, is that it can't give me a job. I don't care for this beasty.

(>) Don't be fooled, you may even have worked for it without knowing it.
(>) Psion

(>) Anyway, can you imagine, if it really caused the volcanoes explosion,
how many cops would be waiting for it when it wakes up ? Ah ! Ah ! Ah ! The
first dragon of history judged for a natural catastrophe. Well, that could
be fun. And I'm pretty sure that the gendarmerie would be up to it. If it
happens, I swear it, I'll take a few shots. What a laugh ahead !
