Ok, I found a reference on the net to a sourcebook
about France. Could anyone tell me when, by who it was
published, and whether it's official or not? If it is,
where can I get it by mailorder? Or at least can
someone tell me whether it exists at all?

It exists. Some of this information can be found here (bottom of the page):

Yes, it's official, and yes, it exists. I own a copy of it.
I can answer specific questions about it if you drop me an
email, but I warn you I don't read French beyond what two years
in high school nearly twenty years ago would teach me. :)

I don't know if you can get it any longer--I'd suspect it's
out of print. I got a used copy back in '98 from someone in
France. Checking www.amazon.fr doesn't turn up anything (except
three SR novels in French which I'm now thinking about
buying. :) )

According to Jeroen Hendrickx, on Mon, 09 Apr 2001 the word on the street
was...

Jeux Descartes publishes it, besides French translations of FASA books.
You can go to http://www.jeux-descartes.fr for more.

Leisure Games in London had copies last year, but I don't know if they
still do. You may be able to order straight from JD, but I don't know for
certain (I do know they sent me an introductory SR flyer, in French, for
free a few years ago, though).

So it exists, that's a start.

Well, let's try it the easy way. Are there any
Walloons out here that know of the book being (still)
available in Brussels or Liège or somewhere else in
the French speaking part of Belgium? Since it
obviously isn't available in Flandres.

For those who own the book, are there any references
to the United Netherlands (that would make "L' Union
des Pays Bas" I guess) or references to Belgium or the
Netherlands in it (fragging inconsistencies)?

Thanks,
- G|rsom
