Just a question for y'all, I was just wandering through my local
library's On-line catalog, and I was pretty suprised at the fact that
they had a pretty okay selection of RPG stuff. T$R Dominated it withe
131 different entries, however they also had SRII and the Street Sam Cat.
Plus some Gurps stuff... I knew they had the AD&D but the SR and gurps
was a surprise. What's the situation out in your respective backyards??

Ummm...I think the public library around here has all of about 10 or 12
Sr novels (no game books, just novels), a couple of AD&D game books,
several of those novels (don't know how many, I never bothered to look).
I think they used to have a Palladium TMNT RPG book (thought it was a
comic book and almost checked it out once, way back before I'd played and
video game RPGs (pre-5th grade I think)

Well last time i looked it had a couple of BattleTech and

said they had some old AD&D 1st ed. rule books but none of them are in the
library. They got stolen years ago by someone but concidering the
concervative town i live in it might not of been a gamer. It might have

In our library system???? Yeah right; Roleplaying games are evil!

Seriously though, our major (Brisbane) gaming shop doesn't even stock a
decent range of Shadowrun books anymore..... Move over for White Wolf,
Palladium, and Vampire.

What shit. (MY opinion..... not necessarily yours)

I'm currently itching for a decent bit of sharp oak to go and clear out
the batcave.

..... Ummm, I mean 'talk to the goths that hang around it'

Seriously.

Think how much the 1st ed. AD$D books are worth now-a-days.... could have
been a collector.

Let's put it this way: if I'd mention "RPG" to them they'd ask me what the
hell I'm talking about...

Of course, this is the same library where about 75% of the novels (real
novels, not game fiction -- sorry Jak :) I want to read, they've never
even heard of, and it's in an area where it seems almost nobody plays
RPGs.

Which gaming shop? Napoleon's has nearly every book as it comes out.

Ah, that'd be why; The Daily Planet is so much closer to town, so we
frequent it.... That 500m walk is a bitch *grin*.

It's been a long while since I've bought a sourcebook (I used to own them
all; no longer), but it pisses me of that Werewolf and Vampire are
pushing SR off the shelves.

My mom works at the local library..I have a pretty good idea of everything
the entire library division has, plus first dibs on anything :)
Current count is 4 SR books, all novels. Nothing GURPS, no other systems.
A few older **&* books, ussualy marked as missing or lost. Same with most
decent novels, it takes forever to get a book like Neuromancer, even with
the new inter-library loans.
Oh, and the damned library lost one SR novel, and the last person to take
it out was me, so they blamed me.. I shoulda just stolen the damned thing
anways :\
My town is highly religious, as are most around here, so its kind of to be
expected. Most biggish bookstores don't carry any RPG's either. And yes,
I have been accused of being evil as I was walking out of the gaming store
one day last year ;)

Should have threatened to carve a hex into their forehead with a nail.

Might as well give them the satisfaction of their beliefs.

That's what's good and bad about living in a big city. There are lots
and lots of religious holy rollers, but, they are mostly trying to stamp
out real evil at Marilyn Manson concerts. Erego, RPG's and CCG's don't
have enough real evil to have a major impact on God and His good army.
Although some people seem to make it a point to irritate any roleplayers
that might go to their chruch.

Thank God (irony) that I live in a nation that is predominantly atheist.
Isn't there something in the american constitution that forbids
persecution based on a persons beleifs?

I dunno, if people are bent on blaming RPG's, CCG's or anything/body else
for evil, they better take another good hard look at their bible, and
another in the mirror.

Yes, there is, but it's being abused more and more everyday.

That's what I say. I've looked through the whole Bible, and I never saw
one mention of RPG's, or CCG's, so I don't see why there is such a big
uproar.
