While I enjoy the 'breakdown' that's been given -- I, for example, didn't
think of the 'Comforts' section -- I don't entirely agree with the 'security
system/area' breakdown. Sure, you can have lots of goodies and a great
security system in a super-crappy neighborhood, but if you do that, your
place WILL get broken into -- eventually. Even if the gang-bangers have to
get out the chainsaws and blowtorches, it's simple economics for them, risk
vs. payoff. SOMEONE is going to luck out to get inside, and once they do ...

I approached it with a different outlook; to wit, certain lifestyle ratings
went 'at cost' in certain Security Zones, but if you went outside of those
Security Zones your price went up (or, more rarely, down). Some couldn't be
had; they don't have Squatters or Street people in AAA-security zones.

As well, I threw in a randomizer for the 'Luxury' lifestyle, to account for
the 'up, up, up!!' part in the lifestyle description. IIRC (I haven't looked
at my SR Excel information in months) the cost is never below 100k, and often
quite a bit over it.

For those who mail me personally, I'll be glad to send 'em an attachment with
the lifestyle stuff I came up with; it's not something I'd want to spam the
list with. :)

Lifestyle Choices / Costs? That's not snappy! No 10 points for
you, bub (but thanks so much for trying! :)

Sure, that's valid. It's all a tradeoff. Likewise, if you have a
gloriously inadequate security system in a ritzy part of L.A.,
someone might eventually break in, tape the poodle's mouth shut, and
make off with your Lava Lamp collection. They might get arrested by
the Star on the way out of there, though...

Wery eenteresteeng... kinda amounts to what Gurth suggested.

Ah, the luxury levels for optimists and dreamers anyway. I've had
_one_ character with Y100,000 _once_, and he was damned if he was
going to blow it on a month of good living. I think with most
runners (unless your GM is Regis Philbin) it's a moot point.

Hey, gimme a mail. I'd be more'n happy to look at it. Thanks for
your comments, BTW (and anyone else I didn't thank).

Hey! I resemble that! I personally love to give my players all sorts of
money and riches, after all, it is only a game. Then shortly after they get
it I find a way to take it away, after they've blown a bit on relaxing and
regearing (and usually while they are spending it - the resort will get
attacked or the fixer will get hit) they will loose everything or have to
put everything they have on the line for someone else. No matter how much
money you get, no one in my games retire. Well, we did retire a set of dice
once...

According to WyrmOuroboros@***.com, on Thu, 01 Feb 2001 the word on the
street was...

IMHO that's not a valid reason for not including the security systems in the
lifestyle cost, though. What it would do, is tell the GM to have someone
break into the place more often (or sooner) than would otherwise be the
case, or, if you want to randomize it, give a greater chance of that
happening.

Sure, send it to me (zipped, please).
