Gee, we had someone pull off a lightsaber in the game, and it was a
technological weapon, and even used stuff from the current books without
having to invent new tech for it. The basis for the tech involved a Laser
rangefinder and a smartlink, attached to a MP-Laser III. Whenever the
rangefinder detected something within the range specified by the user, the
weapon was discharged. We had the player roll his Unarmed Combat skill for
this, as he used to bring the weapon around like a flashlight.
This same player also came up with an idea involving rail-gun tech and
standard weapons. For example, take an Ares Predator II, which does a base
9M damage, with some modifications, adding in rail-tech to the bore of the
pistol, he could then enhance the power of the pistol.
On the magic side of the idea I had for one of my pc's (Herc), was a spell
called Increase Momentum +3, which increased the power of the attack of a
weapon by 3 points.
