Wouldn't it be cool to have a list member get together somewhere? Talk
SR, loud music, stuffers, intraveinous injection of hard drugs to blank
out thoughts of how much we spend on SR (I think heroin might actually be
cheaper than buying all the SR stuff out :) ), you know, standard party.
Of course, to be fair, we'd have to take roll and find out where everybody
lives to determine a happy mean for where to meet to minimize transport
hassles. Of course, this would probably result in us meeting in a boat
somewhere in the Atlantic if we took a straight average of lattitudes and
longitudes.... :) It would be a hoot though.....

Wellllll how many of us are going to be at GenCon this year? We
know FASAMike will and ive heard a few others mention they want to go.
Good reason to buy one of the list t-shirts so you can spot a list member
across a crouded gameing room:). we could take over the Shadowrun Q&A
session to :). bring up the Grounding questions and ... hehe this sounds
fun.

I just mailed off my Early Bird Registration. This will be my first, and
I'm looking forward to it. I went to Origins when it was here in San
Jose a couple of years ago and had a great time. I was disappointed to
learn that it's stopped traveling and is permanently based in Ohio now...

Anyway, I remember Robert Hayden tried to organize a Shadowrn-l get
together at GenCon last year. I don't know if it worked out or not. The
early bird thing is only good through the 24th, and looks like a pretty
good deal.

As we actually get closer to the Appointed Day, we should try to organize
something!

I'd love to go to GenCon, but I don't think I'll be able to make it. I've
got my first year of college in the fall, as soon as I decide where, I
don't yet have a driver's license, and I don't have a job (and, by
result, neither do I have money). OTOH, If I could convince a couple of
friends of mine that GenCon would be the ultimate thing to do at the end
of the summer...hmmm...

I haven't had too much luck with boats and SR, either
1) on metaplane, search cabin 'SS Titanic' why do i get this
'sinking' feeling......
2) GM'ing they claimed salvage on the whole fraggin ferry!
3) or playing the terrorists try and take over, admittedly that was
more fun, poor GM, the poor souls never knew what hit them despite
the party splitting up hit hit the engine room, bridge and rear deck
all at once.

drifting back to listmembers meeting up the only vaugely viable
option (short of a very generous listmember winning 10Million $
or something, like thats going to happen) is Gencon (for NA
continent) and Eurogencon (Europe). I doubt there are enough folks in
a tight enough concentration anywhere else for more than 'organise it
between the two or three of you. But both conventions emntioned are a
good bit off yet.

Mostly useless for non-North Americans, and even for them it would be a
lot of travel.

> and Eurogencon (Europe).

Since that's always in the UK, everybody else would have to take the
boat. Maybe we could organize a bus trip, picking up listmembers along
the way, though... :)

It would be a cool thing, though, if it were possible to arrange a meeting
like this. "So _that's_ what that *beeeep* looks like!" :)

Hence the (for NA continent) in the above! :)

Not ture! you could take a tunnel, but its not neccesarily all that
convenient.

Someone got a good 'travelling salesman algorithm' to route between
em :)

I'm not sure if there are any really big cons on the continent but i
would have thought so. Somewhere like Germany would probably suit a
number of folks but irregardless its a lot of travelling for meetings
of more than 6 or so, as you find out when you try and draw maps of
them planets really are HUGE. Handy at times, real pest others, come
on Scotty we need a transporter, now!

And end up in Folkestone, while EuroGenCon was held somewhere in the
north, if I'm right...

Couldn't do it without one, I think :)

There's this really big con in Germany every autumn, I believe.

It's south of Nottingham, north of Leicester, east of Derby.

Turn off Junction 23 of the M1 motorway and follow the A512. The
university campus is on the right after about two miles, just before you
get into Loughborough itself.

Is there a decent SR contingent at EuroGenCon, then? If so I may be
there.

On Location of Loughborough University.
I'll complie ammoents to various posts here.

I could do with looking it up on the map for an exact location but
this if you know where any of the towns in question are should help,
Nottingham should be findable on most maps with any detail at all even
abroad. Its something like an hour and a half North from London, (give
or take lots as my memory is not that good on this)
As to getting there, well by road close to M1 motorway equals use it,
its also on a direct mainline railway from London which is probably
the easiest method for public transport, they ran a minbuss shuttle
from the station last year, though it couldn't cope with the influx
of folks getting off a train from London in one go. (i was comming
from the south as i'd been elsewhere just before that)

There were nearly zero in 1996, hopefully lots of discussion here
will improve matters!
