Is anyone else having problems with the list? To me, it seems like
traffic is down. I am only getting 2-3 messages an hour, compared
with the usual 5-10. Plus, I am getting responses to posts, and the
original never came across (Eric's Racism post is a good example. I
saw the couple of messages praising it, but the post itself never hit
my box).

I have seen on a couple of other occassions a message with RE:
(whatever), but never got the (whatever).

Any ideas?

Hmm..I noticed that as well. I never saw the racism post, but put
it down to the usual net propogation problems.

It's working fine on my end. Maybe a server lost your mail. And
list traffic is way down from what it was. Not that that's bad thing
;)

Give it time and it'll perk right up :)

Heh..its called the eye of the hurricane. :)
Or is that the lull before the storm.
Either way. Enjoy the quiet while it lasts. (This applies to dogs,
girlfriends, etc, etc as well as mailing lists. :))

Ditto here. Much less traffic, and the same story with the Racism
post. I thought I was just not paying attention and that GridSec had
stamped out most OTness, but if I'm not alone...

Speaking from an ISPs point of view. MCI (one of the internet backbone
providers) has recently put up some new firewalls that are really bogging
it down.

For everyone who's wondering about whether their posts get through to the
list, the solution is to send the command SET SHADOWRN REPRO to
<listserv@********.itribe.net>. This will make the server send you back a
copy of your own messages. Alternatively, SET SHADOWRN ACK only makes it
send you an acknowledgement that your message has been received and
distributed.

I just checked my subscription to shadowrn (the list seemed a little too quiet) and found
out that I was no longer subscribed! So, my first post after re-subscribing is this: Has
anyone else had similar problems? I don't post often, so I wonder if the list server is
dropping "lurkers" or something...

The new list is VERY sensitive regarding bounces. If you bounce 3 messages
it automatically sets you to nomail, and since you're bouncing it assumes
you can't recieve mail, so it doesn't notify you. If you want to check and
change your options, check out:

http://jackpoint.org/mailman/options/shadowrn/your@*****.address

Since you probably don't have a password, you'll need to select the "Email
my password to me" button first, then make your changes once you recieve it.

Nope -- your mailserver is generating bounce messages for no apparent
reason and I got tired of seeing them so I removed you. Since you're
still active and the messages appear to be bogus I'll just ignore them.

Thanks, Mark. Blasted Groupwise 5.5 mail server at my end must have some
bugs in the SMTP gateway. I'll check it out right away. Maybe there's
something I can do to straighten the thing out here...

Since yesterday I seem to be receiving posts out of order. Has anyone else
had this problem?

That happens with e-mail, from time to time. There's not really a
quick-fix, although, to some degree, it can be prevented by receiving
the digests...
