I've been away for awhile, and not long before I left the list
I think the T-shirts were about to be made. Is there any news on
them as I haven't got my copy yet.

FL sent them out at least a month ago, and it seems our American colleagues
are all wearing them already. I'm still anxiously waiting for the PTT to
ring the doorbell and hand me a package containing my shirts...

Actually, mine's in the laundry hamper at home; instead I'm
wearing a shirt that says "Information Superhighway" with a big red circle
and a slash through it, and below says "It's the Internet, stupid."

Maybe I should get myself one of those too, but then one that emphasises the
word "the" :)

It just sounds weird to me when everybody says about "are you on internet?"
as if it's a goddamn corp or something...

Anyway, bringing this back to SR (sort of) -- has _anyone_ outside the US
received their shirt(s) yet? I know that a fair number of people who bought
one are not in the US, and because I haven't seen anything yet apart from
the original designs :) I am kind of starting to wonder if FL maybe _did_
make true that remark about not sending them overseas... :)

"are you on internet?" is proper form. the internet is a highly
addictive drug. it's like asking "are you on coke?"

You're not the only one, Jani... well, at least the money wouldn't have
been wasted. :)

(Seriously, though, it can take three months for overwater shipping from
the States to Australia... why should Greece be any different? :) )

Well..not to get snippy..but we have given him a break.. And believe
me I like Faux Pas as much as anyone..He has been a strong and steady
list member for quite some time..But The T-Shirt deal was supposed to
be completed and sent out by the end of may at the latest..as the
order for the shirts should have been called in to the printers by 21
May...At the latest we should have been receiving our T-Shirts by the
middle of June Maybe even the beginin of July for those Over seas..So
don't get me wrong..But I think we have been more than reasonable//

To everyone..This is in no way meant as an attack on Faux Pas..And is
not meant as a let's bash faux Pas message..It is simply a last ditch
attempt to contact him since he has not been answering personal
Email...

Back up a few ticks... I used to think the whole shirt business went
through the list, but this year it seems I'm wrong... Sure, we had a few
"Hey, how about a new shirt?" things about half a year ago, but nothing
much after that. At which time I did respond, but I never did get any
answer except when I said on the list that I hadn't, and even then I
didn't get my questions answered...

I don't like this at all. I've got all three of the previous shirts, and I
would like to keep my little collection complete, but this feels like it's
going behind my back :(

My apologies to you all. I thought I had been responding to the e-mails
about what's going on with the shirts as I've gotten them. I'm still
trying to get them out and sent off asap. I am sorry for the delays in
getting the shirts done and out to everyone who ordered.

Okay folks, after blurb from Alfredo, I'm just going to say this much.

Yes, I am still interested in doing the shirts again this year, as are the
people that did the physical printings and such as well.

NO - I am not interested in doing the shirts for anyone beyond the Continental
United States. I still have a few peoples shirts (and one sweat-shirt) that I
have to mail as yet (LadyJ, Arno, Velasco...to name a few).

Okay, K:

Point 1 - to have one person ONLY do Continental US shirts, and then have
to pass on the rest to someone else to send outside the US, is a pain in
the butt. It'll add time, cost (shipping), problems... the person who does
it, really has to do it all I think.

Point 2 - and I mean no offense here, K, but seeing as how I *still*
haven't received my 98 shirt (and since you haven't even mailed it yet, I
won't have it until JUNE at the earliest), I'm really not eager to vote for
you doing it again. No offense, and all that, but I think your life's
really too busy right now. :-)

In that case, I think it would be best if someone else would have the
shirts printed up and mail them out. Volunteers please apply to

Splitting up the work turned out pretty well for a miniatures
order that we did on another ML. We sent ~1/3 of them off to
Australia, and the rest were dealt with in the USA (I think we managed
to keep things to two continents). You save on shipping, since it's
cheaper to mail 10 things in one larger box than to mail them
individually, and you get to do things like send by air and ensuring
it. Once it gets there, local mail tends to be pretty straightforward
compared to international mail.
It also means that one poor sod doesn't have to do all of the
distribution work. However, I'm not sure if the demographics of this
list are similar enough to make it worthwhile. On the other list, we
have so many .au subscribers that they were a large portion of the
order. It's not really worth doing if there are only a few people in
each country ordering a shirt.

From memory there are at least 13 people on RN that live
in Brisbane, Australia so I can't see any difficulty in doing
a bulk send of Shirts to us.
