In regaurds to mechanical locks: it shouldn't have anything to do with security
or electronics. I would recomend making a lockpicking skill for that ability.

A security skill should include B/R, sys design, etc, and DEFEATING security.
Our group has pretty much left security as a concentration of electronics.

Exactly why I like one; it organizes a lot of skills that before
have been special skills or non-existent.

I'm not real fond of making would-be burglars buy two skills, one
for electronic and one for mechanical locks.

Face it.

It takes a much different skill to pick a mechanical lock than an electric one.
The skills are as different as armed and unarmed combat. You require the
combat monster to buy both. So, require the burglar to buy both!
