Dammit! Shit shit shit! Fuck! Hell and damnation! Kut harddisk!!!

That's a roundabout way of asking whether there are any logs of this list
dating from between 30 October '95 and today, or at the least between 28
January 1996 and today...

Not that this will interest anybody, but I suffered from a corruption in
my ShadowRN mail folder file, resulting in the loss of all the saved
messages dating after 28 January :( :(
That makes only some, oh, four or five hundred mails or so that I now
can't access anymore, and I of course have been so stupid as to not make a
backup regularly (who does backup stuff every week, anyway?).

So, if there are any logs dating from this period, I'd be very grateful
if someone could point me to them; if not, I'll have to see what I can
salvage. (I dread closing the folder at the moment because I fear it will
totally wipe out all trace of the mails, but I can't copy it for safety
because it's corrupt near the end of the file... Is this what they mean
by "between a rock and a hard place," mommy?)

Never. Even when Gates sprouts horns and hooves they still won't believe
he's the Anti-Christ. :)

I take it that was meant as a joke, unless you mean to imply that onbody
ever suffered corrupted files, bad clusters, and all kinds of other things
under DOS and/or Win3.1...
Not that this is the place to discuss it, but I get the distinct
impression that lots of people are putting down Win95 because it's Win95,
not because they've had any real experience using it...
Not that I'm saying it's the end-all, be-all of operating systems, mind.

I only keep what interests me, which can be pretty much sometimes. That
might be why my HD is filling up so fast...

I know a friend who had his entire 1 Gig hard disc trashed because he
installed Win95. (It's because the long filename thing is a cludge).
Whatever you do, don't mix Win95, Linux and OS2 on the same drive.
(It totally screws up your hard drive map)

It's not really an operating system anyway. It's just an overlarge, cludged
front end.
The Macintosh was doing exactly the same job (properly) 5 years ago.
