Great! One of the sourcebooks I don't have. Well you just gave me a
reason
to get a copy. What more can you read in it?

Hmm.. LS operations and departments, some new toys, and best of all
a couple of Top 10 lists: "The Top Ten Reasons to be a Cop" and "The
Top Ten Reasons Not to be a Criminal".

Actually, LS is a great book for GMs. I just don't think it sold well
because it didn't get enough publicity(IMO).
It's got procedures, gear, weapons, investigations, archetypes to
use(instead of just the "Street Cop" one in the BBB).
It's also got the worst enemies of mages and deckers: Mage-masks and
Jackstopper(respectively).

How "the police" in SR works. IMHO it's a book no GM should be without, as
it gives you a good idea of which things LS will respond to, and in which
way. Useful for keeping the players in line, in my experience (just keep
it in their sight but out of their reach :)

I would agree wholeheartedly. I bought it on the used rack at my local
gaming store. I had paged through it once, and really liked the cover art
(lame reason to buy an entire book though). I thought the material, from
the description of how LS responds to all their calls, to the descriptions
of all the different types of officers is invaluable. It was too bad that
FASA decided to stop producing it.

I also like the background and setup for LS just because of the plethora
of good ideas that it gives GM's. In my current campaign Clay Wilson is
trying to make another attempt on the power structure of LS, to possibly
oust his brother. The group has taken the side of Clay (unknowingly of
course), which provides for some interesting confrontations between LS and
the party.
