Where can I find some source info on Long Island, NY for Shadowrun? I want to just wing
it, but was wondering if there is anything already established for the area. Like, what
megacorps are prominent there? What about places like any state parks/beaches (the
Hamptons, Fire Island, etc.)? Would there be any huge back-to-nature/shama-type
communities? Just brain-storming here. In Nights Pawn, they mention Long Island MacArthur
Airport as a small airport handling mostly tres chic traffic. And Nassau County is
mentioned in Neo-Anarchist's Guide to North America. Any more info? Just wondering.

uniting force behind them. I.e., it felt like more of a hive than a
group with a leader. Granted distinct cells had queens, but I don't
think there was a top queen.

If there is anything official written about it, it'll be in the Neo-A
Guide to North America and/or in Shadows of North America; no other
books even really touch on New York AFAIK, and even with those two your
chances of finding any kind of real info are slim because they're really
only deal with New York city.

For the rest, my advice is to take what's there now and make something
of it that fits what you need for your campaign.

Most likely a good place for toxic shamans to hang out.

I remember there was an issue of Challenge which covered NYC as well.
I think it included some info on the subway systems, but that might
be because several game versions (including Cthulu) were covered.

The only book that mentions Long Island as far as I'm
aware is the Neo-Anarchists Guide to North America in
the New York/Manhatten chapter. Did a quick scan of of
Shadows of North America and turned up bugger all.

Since you've already mentioned the Neo-Anarchists
Guide to North America I'm assuming you have a copy
available right? If not I can probably pass you along
what little it says about Nassau County, Suffolk
County seemingly having been ignored altogether.

Yes. If only I could say the same of Tir Tairngire, which a friend of
mine appears to have managed to lose in his own room :/

So has my home town in Shadows of Europe, so I wouldn't sweat it ;)

Anyway, this is what it says:

NASSAU COUNTY
Designer living. Chauffeured rotorcraft. Gag. So-
stylish-it-makes-you-sick. Nassau's got its cool places,
though. Roosevelt Field, the Great Neck almost-arcology,
Nassau Coliseum (live skateball), my friend Widow's
place in Hempstead, the Inwood Combat Zone (which,
being a rocket's flight from Kennedy, makes for great fun),
and so on.
You'll find just as wide a swing in background and
economics as in Manhattan, but the Nassau PR people work
much harder at keeping a it secret. I suspect the whole
South Shore is just waiting for a repeat of the '38 riots.
