Hiya folks,

I have a group of 5 players who are running characters that are relatively
new to Shadowrunning. Some of them have a couple of runs under their
belts, while others don't have any, but may be familiar with the streets in
general.

That being said, I would like any ideas you might have for some relatively
"tame" runs that they could start growing with. Also, how about some
tempting runs that sound good, but should be turned down due to the skill
level required (thus making the runners think about their competence when
compared to any given assignment). The latter would probably blow up in
their faces if attempted. Well, they would be more likely to blow up in
their faces....no railroading in this campaign. ;)

I am trying to find reasonable runs - no AAA security Megacorps, Dragons,
Immortal Elves, Initiated Magicians, etc. Trying to keep super power and
epic out of the campaign at this point. I want the runners to grow as a
team and know their limitations.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you have an existing run that
you created, I will give you full credit for it in my campaign.

Thanks,

Justin

Write now, as a matter of fact, I'm writing up some "runs" for a
special forces campaign. I'm surprised at how easily these can be
turned into regular Shadowruns(I guess some habits you just can't
break). When I'm done writing them, I'll be more than happy to donate
them to some charitable soul to put on their website(any takers can
email me). The first one is almost complete- it's a simple getting your
feet wet type job. The troops must take out a Juggernaut. From there,
it may get a little more hairy. I have an assasination that will need
to be done overseas. As well as a total "Predator" ripoff using a
cybered Bandersnatch. I've also got a sequel of sorts I'm coming up
with for use after the "King of the Mountain" adventure in "Missions"-
but I may use a low-level Horror for that one(but you could probably
easily replace it with an alien if you are that adamant about not using
Horrors- er, The Enemy.
And, on that note, I'm still looking for more Special Forces
campaign ideas. Please email me all ideas, or if you think the list
could benefit please post them.
Good luck on finding ideas, Justin.

Here are a couple of ideas from when we played a lower level campaign,
i.e. wanna-be runners.

a) Mid-level couples daughter runs away with *unsavory* boyfriend
(ganger, drug addict etc). LS won't help because shes over 21,

b) Company A wants admin personal X snatched from Company B

c) Gang A, just recruited a new member, who happens to be a mage/shamen
causing Gang B to loose turf, Gang B scrapes nuyen together to help regain
their turf...

d) Friend X, has something stolen and wants it back, however the person
holding it is armed so no PI will go near it.

e) Something smells fishy in neighborhood Y, business X has been dumping
something into the area, the neighborhood clubs together to find out what is
being dumped and how to stop it.

f) Person X is rather pissed off with the group and starts to chase
them.

These where a couple of our earlier runs. All can be used at later times for
tie ins' and part of the *bigger* conspiracy theory.

Cheers

I don't know about that philosophy. The first adventure I ran for my
group involved a simple delivery of a defecting employee of one corp
to another corp. The to NYC to pick up the person only to find out
it was a woman and her daughter. They'd been provided with a plane
ticket for only one person. The woman wouldn't leave her daughter
behind. That's when the fun began.

They bought a ticket for the daughter, which was then tracked by
corporation A. When they stepped off the plane in Denver to tranfer
to the flight to Seattle there were a few corporate suits waiting for
them. After a short running gunfight through DIA they ran for the
private planes and hired a smuggler on the spot to get them to
Seattle.

Enroute to Seattle a Thunderbird was sucked into the engine of the
small plane. The resulting EMP took out the smuggler (she was
rigged) and a few of the PCs. The autopilot survived and crash
landed the plane.

From there it was a trek to Seattle which involved dodging Corp A's
"search and rescue" and getting nabbed by the NAN military around
Seattle.

After the military dropped them off in Seattle (one of the PCs had a
few contacts). The had to get their package to the delivery point at
the warf. This involved dealing with a city spirit using it's
accident power on the PCs and shotgun toting corporate suits.

All in all it was a pretty complex run that very effectivly
introduced the players to Shadowrun.

You could use FASA-published adventures. Most of those work well for new
groups, and you can pick only the good ones if you don't feel like doing
a lot of work turning a mediocre adventure into something interesting.
