Hi,

For the last couple of months, I've been GMing
Shadowrun for a group of newbies. I'm happy to say
they are definitely enjoying the game. So far, so
good.

The problem is that 2 players will soon leave the
country to live with their family in Strasbourg,
France. He's leaving next week and she'll follow him
in less than a month.

I've talked to them and they're interested in continue
playing RPGs (especially Shadowrun). While they'll be
(understandably) busy for the first weeks, they hope
to find gamers in the area. I've told them that with
the gaming community in France and Germany, finding a
hobby shop, gaming club or just a group of gamers
shouldn't be a problem (at least that's the hope).

Does somebody know about any hobby shop/gaming
club/RPG fans near Strasbourg? If so, I'd like to
contact them to know if they'd be willing to accept
these two runners. They speak French and English, so I
don't think communication should be a problem
(besides, what a better way to practice the language
and get some new friends? :)

Please, help would be appreciated. Merci! ;)

Jong-Won Kim
Montevideo, Uruguay.

First you can try the french mailing list about Shadowrun:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shadowrun-france/

And the appropriate newsgroup: news://fr.rec.jeux.jdr

And the FFJDR (french rpg federation) has several ressources, like the
gaming club in that region: http://www.ffjdr.org/?page=ressources-bottin-67
and the rpg shop in that city:
http://www.ffjdr.org/index.php3?search_value=strasbourg&page=ressources-boutiques&action=search&search_type=ville

(the "Caverne du Gobelins" is a very good shop -4 years ago it was, beside
Paris, one of the best in France-).

Perhaps Gurth will want to game with them? I do not know where in the
Netherlands Gurth is, but maybe within a 4-hour drive of Strasbourg.
:-)

And perhaps I can come pop in once a year or so on my way to a dining
pilgrimage in Luxembourg. :-)

Probably not :) I'm four hours away from Essen, Germany (which reminds me:
who can I run into at Spiel '03 next week? I'll be there on Saturday the
25th), and I think Strasbourg is further away. In any case it's not a trip
I'd care to make every week :)

A four-hour drive in Europe is not the same as a four-hour drive in
America. Over here, distances do matter.

Agreed. However, I know for a fact I can get from Paris to Frankfurt
in 6 hours, Paris to Luxembourg in 4 hours, etc. If Gurth were in
Maastricht I would imagine going to Strasbourg would not be that
arduous if the gaming were good. But it seems Gurth is further north.

A little bit, but mainly further west.
