I limit to 400,000¥ in my game, which uses the points based system. I
think only one player out of 4 choose that much, the others got 200K. All
gear and cyber must be approved by me.. biggest piece of cyber ended up
being a level 1 Wired Reflexes.

3 dice rolls in todays 2 1/2 hour game, one to see how well a character did
a tattoo, and two to determine how well two different characters hid their
drunkeness. One did, one didn't..:)

I put no limits on money, and almost none on purchases. My opinion is that=

if you want to have something, you should be prepared to live with it *GM
grin*

However, one thing I do keep under control is the contacts people take.
This mainly stems from one player wanting contcts like a high Lone Star
official as a buddy... I told him that unless he could give me a REALLY
good reason for it, I would say no. After two or three attempts he changed=

the contact over to *checks sheet* a fixer and a media producer.

Wow! I've never had that problem. I have one char who has Sting (the
Ancients boss) as a level 1 contact and the GM never minded, then - as a
GM - I mainly tell the people to choose a bunch of contacts that seem to
fit, check them and usually they are O.K., unless the player mixed
something up (Players have the habit to forget that a Yakuza legbracker is
not very likely to have a Sottocapo as a connection :)).
But then again, taking a high LS official as a level 2 or 3 is really
nasty...

In one of our groups, we have a TV-preacher.
Guess who he has as level one contact...
