Incidentally, this occurs with other fat-soluble drugs too, such as
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis sattiva,
aka marijuana). I've actually seen this happen to a friend of mine; a heavy
dope smoker who quit, but kept getting high for weeks - months, even -
afterward because his body was gradually metabolizing the fat that he'd put
on while smoking the stuff, and encountering the THC.
Gotta be the cheapest high ever - Have Your High Twice!
Okay, enough with the Pharmacology lecture - now back to your regularly
scheduled ShadowRN list.
Oh, one more thing while I think of it, since ShadowRN's a bit slow right
now. This is just an interesting tidbit - did you know that your brain
actually only remembers things well when it's in the same state, chemically
speaking (when I say 'chemically' here that includes the body's natural
chemicals - hormones, neurotransmitters and the like) as when you learnt
the information?
So all those high-powered students who do their studying amped up on
cocaine - and our Pharmacology lecturer told us about quite a few cases -
actually do themselves no good at all, unless they're similarly wired for
the exam itself.
Which probably explains why engineering students always go to exams drunk. :)
And supports my theory that I'd do better academically if the exams were
held at 3 AM.
Okay, NOW enough with the Pharmacology lecture.
