]Let me preface this by saying that I haven't played a mage, and if I did
]certainly wouldn't look for high-speed spells above all else.

]Holy Reverend, how the hell did a mage get up to the 60s in Initiative?
Gee, I feel like Robin(tm)! (But no Bat-a-mage-across-the-head-and-shoulders:)

let me preface this with 2 things:
1) We were playing SR1, 1st and 2nd printing, no Grimoire.
2) This is from memory

What they did, if I recollect rightly, was to take personal combat sense. They
would then take their elementals, and burn them for auto-successes. Then
they'd lock it. Depending on how you read the rules (hazy at best), you could
see it as either increasing reaction, or dice for initiative. I forget which
one we used, but during one successful casting of this spell, our mage managed
to move in the 60s! Gross, to be sure.
