I would think that you would have to have some sort of conscious control
over the spell, so you would cop at least the penalties firing blind or
sustaining multiple spells, unless you have a gun cam and a smartlink
running through the datajack (and then it would be the same as independent
cybereyes.

Failing that, I suppose you could have a number of grenades "orbiting" the
character, which get dropped or thrown on command. At the very least, you
could reload the two pistols held in the hands as a free action.

<@^@> put "Hey Robert!" (without quotes) in the subject line to bypass my
junk mail filter and do not mention any sort of word associated with
commercial transactions.

Well, see, my problem lies within the Suppression Fire rule as combined with
this. (See my previous mail about the rules for that.) Aside from that, as
the mage in my group already said (in horror, actually) is that, while it
may be in the rules, it goes against the spirit of them. Sustaining four
spells would make all of your TN#s +8, so actually trying to hit anything
with them would be nearly impossible. I like the idea of the grenades,
though... I might have to use that.

In the last mission, one of the characters had some grenades whose pins were
plucked using Magic Fingers. He complained that they were strapped into his
combat vest, and so the spoons couldn't fly off. (Since I'm not in the
military, I had no way of knowing if that is true or not, but I gave it to
him.) The next action, one of the bad guys hit him with freeze foam which
effectively stopped him from getting rid of the grenades.

I guess my point is that the spell is kinda neat, as long as someone doesn't
go too far with it, but it's up to the GM/players to decide what "too far"
means.

According to zebulingod, on Friday 30 January 2004 06:51 the word on the

Depends on how the web gear is set up, really. With current US web gear
(which is probably what your player was thinking of) it's likely that he's
right. OTOH there are plenty of possibilities for grenades that are
properly carried in web gear to be detonated like this anyway, I'd think.
It's a GM call, IOW.

Oh, the joys of having a GM who's reasonably new to GMing SR... Half the
time our characters do things, he whines about how we seem to be too
powerful... :) Just because I cast Control Thoughts on a semi-hostile gang
boss to make him let us walk away, or we open up with an assault rifle on
a bunch of bad guys...

In any case, the Magic Fingers user could as well have made the
grenades fall to the floor while he was at it...

These things can also happen with an experienced GM who's discovering
a particular facet of the game... For example, rigging. I've already
told you about that time where I downed fifteen people in one
initiative pass against TNs of 3, haven't I?
