Subject: Magic in Space: A possible solution

Everyone knows that magic doesn't work in space because the astral energy level
is too low. Well, there's know air in space and yet astronauts breathe. Why,
because they bring their own air. So, it seems to me it would be possible to
solve the non-ability of magicians in space by figuring out a may to
concentrate and store raw astral energy so that it can be taken up into space
without the energy being dispersed due to the astral vacuumm. Sort of like an
astral battery, which would let the magician in question draw from its energy
to cast spells. It would probably be very difficult to create, and very
expensive to buy, but it would be worth it to any mage or shaman going on an
orbital run.

Of course, the above item still would not end a mages problems in space. He
wouldn't be able to cast all the spells he wants because he only has a limited
amount of mana with him. I'd say spells on himself wouldn't deplete the supply
becuase the mana would be recycled back into the battery, and thus can be used
again. Ditto for spells with the range of touch. However, to cast spells
which are line of sight such as bolts he would have to fling part of the astral
energy in the battery along with the spell. This means he has a limited amount
of spell "ammo" and can't go around power bolting willy nilly.

The spell battery idea only solves the spell casting aspect of magic in space.
Astral perception wouldn't be worth it because your field of vision wouldn't
extend past your personal astral field. And there wouldn't be any spirits
around to summon. Any magician in space would be reduced to being a sorcerer
adept. That, and physical adepts, would be the only type of magic which would
work in space.

This concept of a "spiritual battery" has merit.
Obviosly it would be subject to GM approval.
Any contradictions to realisticness may be ignored since Magic isn't realistic
to begin with....

I think one other restriction should make astral perception/travel
either impossible or extremely dangerous.
