Okay...this is the topic of an argument I ALMOST had with someone last year.
Disclaimer: I do not like the idea of ANYONE ignoring magic, even before I
had a mage character...this includes the hypothetical "Null Mage" that some
(a person we all know, but shall remain nameless) have proposed.
Firstly, I don't think that regardless of Essence, someone's body could ignore a
physical spell. Even if it were a case of it having to 'latch' onto something
for it to go off (which I don't agree with either), a mage can target or center
a spell on ANYTHING in Line of Sight--that means anything near the Street
Samurai (a term I HATE, by the way) can be targeted and still hit HIM, and if
an area of effect spell, it can be centered NEAR the "black hole in Astral
space" to scrag him.
Secondly, a mana spell hits a person's MIND, not their aura. Even when
excessively cybernetically augmented they still must have a mind to run
everything... I mean, let's be serious.
