Hey all, this is my first post on this list, so please, take it easy on me.

Lets say an Adept (At character creation) chooses to load himself up with
cyberware. This causes him to lose essence, which consequently causes magic
loss - so he would have t take a geas to compensate for the magic loss, right?
either that or he would start on the burnout path.

MITS says that he would need to take a geas that would effect 1 point of
magic per magic loss. If he does this, he is able to operate on the magic
attribute prior to the magic loss.

To better illustrate my question, I will give the following example:
Joe is an adept. He chooses to load himself up with cyberware that leaves him
with Essence 3.0, and thus, with a Magic attribute of 3. He takes 3 geasa
(because he lost 3 magic points).

Now, my question is this: would joe be able to buy his physical adept powers
with 6 points of magic, or rather only with 3?

Okay. I don't know what the book would say, but I would say that if the
cyberware was
installed before he spent his points to buy his Adept powers, he'd be stuck
with only 3
points to spend. If installed after the powers were bought, it would be like
in the book,
where he'd have to take a geas for each of the lost points if he wanted to
keep the powers.

Right.

Right.

Okay.

Six. However, whenever he breaks even one geas, all three geasa are
broken and he acts with a magic attribute of three.

Let's say he spent his three ungeased (is that a word? It is now.) power
points thusly:
Improved Ability Stealth four (one point)
Mystic Armor four (two points)

Let's say with his geased power points, he bought:
+two levels of Mystic Armor (one point)
Improved Reflexes one (two points)

When no geasa are broken, Joe has six levels Mystic Armor, four levels of
Improved Ability Stealth, and one level of Improved Reflexes. When any of
the geasa are broken, Joe has four levels of Improved Ability Stealth and
Mystic Armor but can only use three levels because the powers cannot
exceed his current Magic Attribute of three.
