Probably someone knows.

You'd BETTER know about rec.games.deckmaster, at least...

(You know, I bet you just started an off-topic message set. We get to
blame you for that for the next few weeks. <grin>)

Yup. Rat may know it by heart, I don't. gg-l@*******.com is close, though.

Ok. Could someone explain the aformentioned game to those of us who do
not know (Particularly me)?
How much does a starter cost? If this is the new rave, I think I will
give it a try.

Um, okay. I just got a friend into this game, and this is what I reccomended
he get:

2 Starter Decks (abt 8.00 each)
2 Booster Packs (abt 2.50 each)
1 Antiquities Pack (abt. 2.50)

He ended up dropping 25 bucks or so, but got some nice cards.

Um, if you want more info, mail me at solstice@****.edu so I don't get yelled

Check out the FTP site, marvin.macc.wisc.edu

It should have all your MtG needs.

Could we have some discussion about Shadowrun?
I have just subscribed to this list and out of 100+ messages I have
seen only 4 with any relevance to shadowrun. Kind of discouraging....
So, just to start up *some* kind of discussion, what kind of
repercussions do people see as a result of a working AI?
It's been hinted that Renraku, Fuchi, or Transys Neuronet are real
close.... How would such a presence manifest on the Matrix? (And don't
give me Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. descriptions, please).
Also, anyone have a list of all the new types of nasty IC?
So far we have:
Expert IC
Party IC
Image IC (from Tir na nOg)
Adaptive system architecture (from Pueblo)
Other ideas?

Cordially,

postings?

As there is going to be a ShadowRun version of a game similiar to M:tG,
there is some relevance there.

If it had a proper ethical base, it would probably realize that humans
are inherently screwed up and nuke the planet.

Read the first trilogy of SR books.

Pardon me, but I was referring to messages with congratulations
to people concerning their masters degrees, people talking to other people
about things the entire mailing list has no reference to, and so forth.
While these are certainly interesting to the parties involved I do not
think the listreaders at large felt that they are discussions of Shadowrun.
I humbly beg your pardon, as you are the administrator, but I have
received several emails congratulating me for trying to get the discussion
on track. I did read your FAQ and I meant no offense.
I do, privately, in my own opinion, disagree with the idea that a
Magic:The Gathering discussion has relevance to Shadowrun, especially
one considering how many packs one should start with and a blow-by-blow
account of a game.

> Read the first trilogy of SR books.

Didn't like them too much, seemed subject to inflation especially
the Daniel-Howling-Coyote bit.

There's also gg-trading-l, for trading cards (and, way too often,
auctioning them off). I and some others are trying to get the auctions
moved to a seperate list.

This is a very close list, and the ideas and discussion is a direct
result of the closeness. Thus, you will continue to see conversations
like that.

There are around 280 or so people on this list right now, and perhaps a
total of about 1,000 come and go during a year. The number of complaints
per year are in the single digits. People like it this way.

No, they aren'. However, when you've been on the list for a while (as many
people have) you come to know the people around here, and you care about more
than just SR. As you said, you're new to the list, and this isn't meant as a
flame or anything, but you'l understand what I'm talking about in a month or
so.

Yeah, there is some tangential stuff that happens... but we do try and keep it
to a minimum. :-)

> I humbly beg your pardon, as you are the administrator, but I have

I know you didn't... and I'm sure the rest of us, knowing that you are new,
will forgive you as well (meaning no carps will come flying your way *grin*).
If things get really out of hand, Rob and Doom will put a stop to it, have no
fear of that.

I can see your point. I don't really care. If people want to talk about stuff
only vaguely related to SR, that's their business. Who says you have to read
everything that comes out of this list? I don't. Skip the topics that are
getting dull (or irrelevant), and read the ones you like. If you don't like
the discussion, start one of your own. We don't mind (really, we don't).

Just relax a little. No need to get worked up over stuff that really doesn't
matter in the grand scheme of things.

All right... I've preached enough here... back to work... :-)

I agree -- we're all friends here. The people who don't "fit in"
at first usually either fade away or learn to understand what really goes
on with this list.

Just wanted to add my two bits... I just joined this group myself. I read the
messages I find interesting and skip the ones I don't.

Besides, being a graduate student myself, it's good to hear that some people
actually graduate... I've still got several years to go on a Ph.D.

Just some friendly advice from me to all of you... Don't do it. Get a real
job and make some money.

Now... Back to Shadowrun.
