I'm giving some though as to where pixies might be decended from. I've
think I've got a facinating idea.

----

Elves are born one of two ways:
1) Children of Elves
2) UGE Children of Humans

So what if Pixies are born one of two ways:
1) Children of Pixies
2) UGE Children of Elves

That's right, a second wave of mutant babies being this time born to
elves. It would explain why the features are similiar to elves, and with
a little working on the background, we can establish a fairly close
relationship between the elven society and the pixies society.

This makes some sense. I think everyone on the lists views the pixie (as
I've written them) as a very magically atuned creature. I even added this
due to the problems they have with cyberware (costs 1.5x essence). Since
elves are also considered to me somewhat magically atuned, it would make
since that as the generations decended (coupled with UGE), the magical
sensitivity of the decended races would become greater.

---

I think what the above idea does is it establishes an realistic shadowrun
storyline showing where they came from, how they got here and why they are
here.

Comments on all of this stuff greatly appreciated. I'm having a blast
with all of these ideas.

It's a cool idea, indeed, but I just don't like it. I think you've got
some great ideas, Robert, and I've never intended to imply you're
coming up with these for munchkin reasons. However, I think the two of
us just have quite different approaches to metahumanity and
paranimals.

= Elves are born one of two ways:
= 1) Children of Elves
= 2) UGE Children of Humans

Just a nitpick; the second is no longer true. Only the first elves
were born of humans; although some humans still goblinize into orcs
and trolls, no elves or dwarves are born to human parents in 2054.

= So what if Pixies are born one of two ways:
= 1) Children of Pixies
= 2) UGE Children of Elves

Cool idea. Personally it conflicts with my feelings of consistency and
rightness in my SR world. I'd never recommend not using it; it just
doesn't feel right to me. Elves already are a magical phenotype; I
don't see that becoming more rarified, and I don't grok wings suddenly
appearing in any human metatype. That's just me.

To The Deb Decker, though... I never advocated not using
pixies/sprites as PCs. I'd certainly allow it, and I'd love to play
one myself.

Good, because I'm certainly not trying to stifle creativity. I just
have my own strongly held beliefs about the Awakening. Your own
mileage, obviously, will vary.
