Ah-ha! Found the article excerpt I was looking for! Y'all may or may not
remember the discussion about the mana curve we had a while back... hopefully
this will refresh your memories.

Excerpted from:
W. Weisskirch, J. Ostmann, E. Spengler, G. Distler. UGE and the rise of the
global mana field. =Journal of Metanatural Studies=, June 2046 (XIV:3).

"Thus it can be demonstrated that the global mana field was rising
long before the Day of the Dragons and the first manifestations of human UGE.
The century ferret bears witness that the ambient mana did not abruptly leap
in energy level, as some have theorised. The Sixth World was not begun at the
flick of a switch, but at the crossing of a threshold, the achievement of
something akin to 'critical mass' in the global mana field."

"Hirschfeld et al's experiment thus provides definitive proof that the
mana rise was not linear, but rather logarithmic. Recent studes show alo that
the mana curve, far from achieving asymptotic flatness, is instead recurving
and rising again. This is demonstrated by ... "

"So we have a cycle established in the global mana field, with the
possibility, after further measurements, of plotting this cycle and knowing
when and by how much global mana field strength will vary. In the short run,
of course, these results imply very strongly that a new surge of UGE, with the
appearance of new metahuman and nonhuman paraspecies, could begin as soon as
2050, and certainly peak by late 2056."
