Looking in the BBB, an autonav map chip is 25¥ and an OMC is Mp x 5¥ so
unless we are being gouged on OMC prices, an autonav map can't be more
than about 5 Mp ...
Another option is to assign the maps a rating and base the price and size
off of that rating and the area covered.
Rating Detail Level
1 Country/State Outlines
2 Highways
3 Major streets
4 All Streets
5 Buildings (exteriors of), including height.
6 Aproximate Interior Layout of buildings (ie, floors, rooms, etc)
7 Detailed Blueprints.
Each level includes are lower level details :)
A map of a Seatle detailed enough for autonav costs 25¥ and covers about
10k sq km (6k sq mi) (according to SR1 BBB and New Seatle -- dividing
Seatle Population by population density.) or about 4k sq km (2.5k sq mi)
(according to the Seatle Sourcebook and New Seatle -- adding up the
District Sizes.). I like the larger estimate.
Okay, an autonav chip for seatle costs 25¥, covers 10k sq km, and falls
under rating 4 (5 if it it's for airborne vehicles, but let's just use
4).
That means that a rating 4 map takes up area covered in square kilometers
/ 2000 in Mp, and costs Mp times 5¥.
So let's arbitrarily make up a chart:
Mp size of a map chip
Rating Divisor
1 10000
2 5000
3 2500
4 2000
5 1500
6 500
7 100
Divide the area covered in square kilometers by the divisor to get the
map's size in Mp.
All chips cost Mp x 5¥
What do you think?
