Well, for starters an initiate can only mask his own aura, and so can only
mask spell locks he has on himself. As for whether he has to concentrate on
this or not, I would assume that to mask the base number of foci rating
points (which is equal to his grade) requires no significant effort on his
part (since the Grimything says to assume that all initiates are continually
masking unless otherwise stated, and it also says that an initiate can mask
his grade in rating points as well as his own aura). To mask more requires
deliberate masking, which is an exclusive activity (ie the magician cannot
cast or sustain other spells while doing this). But with deliberate masking
the magician can mask more foci rating points. Remember that spell locks
have a rating of 1.
