A while back we were discussing descriptions of the matrix and if touch,
smell etc were there or not. Well, i was reading the Sr Anthology the other
day, and one of the stories (the one with the Jack the Ripper decker) had
sounds in the matrix.

All senses can be affected by the simsense reality of the Matrix. The
problem becomes, are you going to program the taste of that Black IC icon
just in case some enterprising (and daring) decker decides to lick it?
Probably not. Sight and sound are the two most-used senses to gather
data about an environment, so it stands to reason that they will be the
most common. Other stuff simply adds flair or psychological impact. How
many deckers are going to run that analyze on an IC icon when they can
see it drooling, hear it growling, smell its foul breath, and feel the
ground shake as the thing moves? It may only be Access IC, but the
decker may not know that. Or better yet a tar pit, trying to lure the
decker into blindly attacking it. The Matrix (IMHO) is one of the best
settings in Shadowrun because the illusion is the reality and vice versa.

Yeah, i agree. We decided (and I fully agree) that the matrix has all
senses. I was just giving a SR example of a sense other than sight in the
matrix.

anyone know how to get the .sig thing to leave a line on top of the "--"? I
have to put in a line otherwise it gets cluttered down there. Not too
important I know, but yeh :-)

PS the [Unix] is 'cause I don't know what type I use (can anyone help me?) and
the [House] is 'cause I live in a Uni College and I don't know exactly where
that fits. I will fix them up (and delete this annoying little PS) ASAP.
