If I were to do a Shadowrun movie, it would have a soundtrack by RATM (yes, I
know they're broken up), Ministry, NIN, Megadeth, and probably AC/DC.

Now the part where I meander...the cast. Just some suggestions, but taking
from the WWF, Vince McMahon would make a perfect crooked Johnson or corporate
type. Undertaker (currently the American Badass) would be great as a troll
mercenary/street sam. Going elsewhere in movies, of course Bruce Willis as
the burnt-out detective now running the shadows for enough ¥ to scrape
by...possibly Katherine Zeta Jones as an elven decker...get the guy who just
played Elwood Gutworthy in the D&D movie as a dwarven street sam or
mechanic... Or if you don't want Bruce Willis in the lead, maybe get a good
martial artist to play a phys ad...for instance Brandon Lee if he were still
alive.

Nah - I'd use Panasonic, Merzbow, Dryft and Gridlock... that sort of stuff
hasn't been used before in a movie - you'd be approaching the weirder side
of the 'Pi' soundtrack. I would use Lunatic Calm to do the intro music -
their track 'metropol' is just the coolest big beat ever.

I think a SR soundtrack shouldn't be hard rock - it doesn't capture the
cyber, the future or the magic - it captures the aggression and turmoil.
Techno-industrial music is good, but Noize is better... nothing like a low
whining drone to creep up the players backbones as they're trying to find
out who the 'subway slashers' are (who were actually strange cybered Ghouls
who clung to the roof of the subway trains to get around, and scared their
hand razors across the concrete ceiling, striking sparks - One even had
patagia, and used it to good use.)

Sting as the Physad (or the guy who played Toad in X-men/Darth Maul in
Episode I)
Ving Rhames as the Ork Merc
Drew Barrymore as the Human Rigger and comic relief
Anthony Hopkins as the Dwarf Technician
Patrick Stewart as the Mage
Russel Crowe (of course) as the Samurai
Christopher Walken as Mr Johnson
Jet Li as the Corporate Badguy

Personally I think Ramstein, White Zombie (good heavy club music);
Portishead, Perfect Circle, Cruxshadows, Seraphim Shock, music fron Glen
Danzig's Black Aria, Enigma, Bjork, Enya, NIN, and a good few of the ones
who did the Matrix soundtrack (most names escape me right now).

Some of this for existing music and more for "original" stuff for the movie.
Portishead has EXCELENT haunting music. And Enigma has proven versitile in
their music. Enya would be perfect for a Na Nog atmosphere.

Bruce Willis - I agree (worked close enough for what 4 or 5 movies?)
Jet Li - dido
Christopher Walken - Definately, though it would certainly type cast the
movie though
Ving Rhames - good actor, ork merc though? maybe
Angelina Jolie - aka Lara Croft. No more need be said
Samuel L. Jackson - Give him a gun and let him pick a roll.
Bad agent in Matrix - similar role
Mako - Renraku executive
Sean Connery - Damien Knight?
Chow Yun Fat - need I explain?
Hulk Hogan - grizzled merc
The Giant or Kevin Nash - Troll sam
Katherine Zeta Jones - Nadja Davier?
Al Pachino - Mafia (or Lucifer, your preference)
Ducascus (?) - The actor in the Crow: TV show. Good Phys Ad

Could probably do better if I wasn't at work deealing with a weekend of
money. Maybe later I'll repost.

Ray Park...only problem is he's not the best in the world at delivering
lines... Great physical actor...just don't ask him to talk too much.

Hmmm...interesting choice. I think he could pull it off too... Not the type
of role he seems to usually opt for but I think he wouldn't have a problem
with it...

Mark Dacascos...and yes, I agree. After all if he's filling Brandon Lee's
shoes he can't be too bad.

He's perfect for any Shadowrun role, really.

Check out the Gibson-inspired movie "New Rose Hotel", for instance:

Plus, *it's freakin' Christopher Walken*! I mean, c'mon here...

Aaaaaand!

Nicolas Cage as the disturbed chip-addict Eurowars Veteran/Samurai

Now, that's typecasting =)

One of my favorite actors, Mel Gibson, as a Sami, or a Phys Ad.

Nah, just have him play his character in Payback again. :) That was
such a cool movie.
