(courtesy of NightStalker), I remembered the relatively low-tech way
they do this now. (I don't remember all the details (this wasn't done
to me (thank goodness)))
Take a needle, stick it in some part of the body, stick another needle
somewhere else and run a charge between them and messure the time it
takes. The medical name is (something) echo (something).
A potential upgrade of this would be to send a low level charge through
the entire body and image it with something like MRI.
Thought this might give you some more ideas.
